Q7 4M.5+ and Q8 4M+ with the Turbocharged V6
Video can be followed in reverse order to disassemble. The engine sits forward and low in the bay, the oil filter is an overcomplicated process to access.
The rest is straightforward oil change. Since I’m a total noob, if I can do it anyone can. I did the video on reassembly on purpose, it’s easy to take something apart, less so to put back together.
You’ll need the following:
- Multiple sizes torx
- 32mm socket for the oil filter
- Ratcheting wrench
- Torque wrench capable of reading as low as 4nm (3lb ft)
- VW 508/509 0W-20 if you’re keeping to factory spec
- Oil Filter & drain plug washer
- O ring for filter housing (don’t reuse per Audi)
- Pick/small flathead to pull wiring harness clips
- Scanner/diag tool to reset service indicator
- Lift/ramps (ideal, not necessary. car has enough clearance)
- Patience
Torque specs:
Drain Plug - 4nm (3lb ft)
Plastic Filter Housing - 25nm (17-18lb ft)
