Audio amplifier repair
In this opportunity I bring you the repair of an audio amplifier with the following:
Brand: Yamaha
Model: A-500
Failure: Relay does not activate audio outputs
The main problem with this amplifier was that the relay was not activated, therefore the audio outputs were not activated. Whenever we go to review a team the first thing we must do is diagnose the failure of the team, because in this way gives us a small idea of how to resolve the failure. The problem was presented in the protection circuit of the amplifier, in this case, the great advantage is that it had the diagram of the audio plant, which, I facilitate to detect the failure. This circuit has two control signals that activate the protection, through TR129, which are for the power stage of the positive cycle, known as V + (TR125), and the negative V- (TR126). Once these stages were identified, I proceeded to disable TR129 to detect if the fault was being caused by this transistor, when removing it, it was found that this transistor was being activated; this allowed me to track why stage protection was being activated. Once this is identified, the next step is to know which of the two stages caused the failure; for this, what I did was to desolder the TR125 of the V + and observe the behavior, in the same way it stops the negative (TR126). With this two test I found that the fault was being activated through TR126, the interesting thing about the detection of the fault in this stage, was that the problem was causing the transistor TR126, the funny thing was that this transistor measuring both the multimeter analog as digital, average in perfect condition. These failures are the most difficult to detect since the average transistor in perfect condition, this happens a lot with the transistors because the operating time, modifies its internal parameters. I know some will ask how I realized this, and because I changed the transistor if it was in perfect condition, the answer is simple with the analysis of the diagram, with trial and error, removing and placing the transistors allowed me to know who was the faulty transistor . This is the interesting thing of the world of electronic repairs and they are the most difficult faults to diagnose, the advantage was that I had a diagram, but I am honest if I did not have the diagram, it would have taken me a world to detect the failure.
It should be noted that you in this channel will find all kinds of electronic repair, from the simplest to the most complex, but the most important thing is that you learn how to repair your electronic equipment, that's why the invitations to subscribe, activate the bell so they are aware of the notifications, so they will be attentive when uploading a new video.
