Hi Dr Murray, I have to say thank you so much for all the wonderful information. I broke down in tears from your video because I have been struggling for years with APD but diagnosed as dyslexia, but trying to explain to people what I'm going through and hearing there is hope not only for me, but for my daughter as well. I have seen the same struggles in her as I have since she was 2 yrs old. And I have been trying to get her diagnosed, and the help she needs since. She has been in speech since she was 3yrs old, but no one is listening to me that it's more then speech. Now she is 6 and struggling academically, socially and emotionally. I would love to talk to you more on how I can get her the help she needs so she doesnt have to continue to struggle her whole life like I have. Thank you so much!

It’s a huge huge struggle for me also. I feel so stupid when I can’t explain things to people in the correct way. I’ll say things like “that over there” or I’ll say a phrase like “I used to drink coffee and stuff” 😕 it’s very frustrating. I’m always vary weird around people who I feel are more smart then me so that’s when the anxiety and worry takes over and I think, I have to be as smart as this person for them to want to be around me, this person is going to lose interest in me. 😕🤷♀️ I don’t have any close friends rarely ever have. I still have kept downs and am 36 years old it’s sad. If I can’t find a business I’ll have a break down and act like a crazy person because I’ll get so frustrated.

I wish I was diagnosed as a kid as well. I probably wouldn’t have struggled as much in school. I just got diagnosed at age 42 and there is very little info about CAPD in Adults. Everything I am seeing is all about kids. What resources are available for Adults. Any good apps for Adults? PS. I’m in Canada as I’m sure that will affect the resource options.

I’ve just been told I have auditory processing disorder, but I’m 28 yrs and until the last three years haven’t had hearing problems. For the last three years It feels to me like hearing loss, but when I’ve gone for hearing tests there’s nothing wrong, can auditory processing feel like that? And is it possible for it to develop as an adult?

Not sure what is wrong with my hearing because all of my hearing tests come back as normal but I still cannot hear. I've had problems with hearing since I was a child and I've relied heavily on lip reading all my life which is now really hard to rely on with face masks. I'm 30 now, and still have no answers. So learning about things like APD is interesting for me.

What's the difference between assisted device and hearing aids? What is the music class?
@UtahNeuroRehabilitation
3 жыл бұрын
Hearing aids are one type of assistive device. There are also other assistive devices that help with apd. They are not specifically programmed for your apd need. These might include over the counter assistive listening devices. One music class is called the Listening Program and is aimed at facilitating the brain's response to sound.

I don't really know... I have APD or SPD. Thanks for the video. Well...I find it difficult to concentrate and listen to conversations in places and particular situations where there is a lot of noise and there are many different people's voices around me. Also, during remote meetings, there are a lot of eyes on the screen, which makes it a little difficult to stay calm and concentrate. Even now, it's very stressful to have a conversation with a large number of people at a meeting 😅 hopefully to sales a more versatile voice control pods in near future...

Thank you for all those wonderful information. I have been struggling with auditory processing my whole life along with dyslexia and multi steps directions. At school I was called the lazy genius. My son is exhibiting all the symptoms I struggled with and that's how I stumbled on to your channel looking in desperation to help my kiddo. Based only on my experience and assuming that his processing of sound is very similar to mine I would like to try the assistaning hearing devise, heck I may even get one for my self if somehow thay can reduce the background noise and help me finally hear people in restaurant or really anywhere with increase of background noise. Is there any devices available on the market that you would recommend or is it strictly medical device that can be obtained with prescription. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Awesome video and thank you very much again.
