Great work. Lots of time and effort put in and clearly you're being rewarded! Garden is doing okay right now. My squash did awful this year in Massachusetts. I have a big max pumpkin plant growing great pumpkins. Further inspection of the squash showed signs of vine borers but they seem to want nothing to do with the pumpkins. Also started bottle gourds a little over a month ago which seem to be hanging in there for now. Happy growing!

I grew melons for the first time this year (variety Emir F1) and just harvested the first one today, very pleased with how they turned out, amazing flavour and juicy too! Also a friend of mine has a similar problem with their plums, they keep getting the wasps that go inside of them ruining most of them

So annoying regarding the plums!

Wonderful videos and lots of gorgeous produce my friend. Don't make any videos in regards to gardening but I am intending to make some! Had a bad case of potato poisoning recently. I grew some in pots and it looks like the compost was too shallow. They weren't green but I think the exposure had caused them to become toxic! Word of warning to newbies out there

@@homegardens7682 I’m 100% getting a tunnel like yours before planting, you sold me on this over a year ago now, the first person I came across that explained it so well after years of dying peaches, apricots and nectarines! I plan on collecting the water in an IBC and building in a ground watering system, this should be fine if it’s on the roots and not the leaves? Or avoid rain water all together?

My pumpkins look about the same as yours, we are only up the road in Norfolk, I'm hoping we have a continued warm period well into September. We also have a good looking pear harvest this year, we weren't expecting it as it was a great year last year too!

Amaranth will make a weed of itself but, imo, that's a good thing. Young Amaranth plants are easy to pull up and makes an excellent salad green. The three salad plants I currently have growing like weeds are Red rooted amaranth Lambs quarter Wood sorrel

Cool. I will grow more amaranth next year I think.

Don’t know if you’ve seen The Gardening Channel with James Prigioni. He uses some sort of kaolin clay powder to protect his fruit trees from a variety of insect and caterpillar attacks.

Howdy, Dan! My your garden is bursting with an abundance of deliciousness!😃👍 I hope you get some ripe pumpkins. Those grapes, apples, pears, the whole lot look beautiful!👍 Do you ever thin your fruits? I got several pumpkins from our first planting. Here we do two plantings of winter squash, melons, tomatoes, etc. Right now the temp is 102 with a heat index of 109. Still no rain and a week plus more of the same temps. Often we have a temp of 100+ at 10 pm. Even in this heat we still harvest lots of food.👩🏾🌾 I notice you don't have any fig bushes. Do you dislike them or is it hard to grow them in your area?

Hi Valorie. I have a few figs, I put a short up the other day. I never thin fruits, I probably should but its basically time budgetting so I don't do it!

looking lush Dan, my toms only just started to ripen also after the only day of full sun in 6 weeks, planted a lot of climbing french beans but not keen on the variety (trail of tears) as the pods are kind of hairy and tougher/stringier than we're used to, cape gooseberry have grown huge and flowered although no friut as yet, been a good yr for sweetcorn 3&4 tillers per plant has given us tons of extra cobs, harvested the first this week
@homegardens7682

Yes, I suspect its because they are an older variety. I am growing Cobra this year. Highly recommended, huge they are! Next year I think I will grow trail of tears for the heritage value and cobra as well.

Your garden is looking great. How long does it usually take for fruit trees to crop? I bought some two years ago. They looked like twigs. One apple tree did have 3 tiny apple this year, but they all fell off!
@homegardens7682
Жыл бұрын
Depends very much on what it is. Peaches here crop quite early then the others follow as the season progresses.

My veg seem to be benefitting from neglect this year. Not getting to the plot often and never for long enough but most of the crops have been bumper and the wildlife is loving the mess and chaos of it all😅
