I’ve probably been to most of these roads at night while doordashing. I know the gang violence is bad and that sucks, but I’ll speak for the other residents when I say that most of them have never done anything to make me feel unsafe as a 29-year-old woman by herself. They aren’t bad people and deserve better opportunities than they have.

I have lived here now three years, drive school bus here and drive in some of these hoods, the sad thing is, there ate SOME decent kids here, but there are so many that are not, adults too, the rudeness and disrespect here is off the chain, the addiction and use of pot is high here, alcoholism is high, and what is sad is many moms who are not adult themselves by their choices are bringing more kids into the world that hate and despise authority, police, teachers, us bus drivers and schools that do nothing about repeat problem students and instead focus on "political correctness" and teaching students that CRT, Critical race theory that whites are so "wicked". As a white guy living here, I have seen enough I myself live in a more mellow "hood" bought my house and the locals here blast their bass and show no respect to the elderly blacks or myself and rock my house and tear up and down the streets in their POS loud cars and do not care, the cops do nothing, the bottom line is, Augusta is another Detroit, Buffalo, Akron Cleveland that does not have leaders that have balls to stand up to this crazy train repeat behaviors which drag the entire culture down the toilet with it....

We had family friends that lived across the Savannah River in Belvedere, SC, and I spent several weeks with them during the summers of 1977 through 1979, so I was in Augusta quite a bit back then. Also we were in Augusta for many weeks in 1969 when I was 5. I went to both Augusta Mall and Regency Square Mall right after they opened in the summer of 1978, though Regency Square was one of the first dead malls that was torn down sometime in the last 10 to 15 years. I used to love Wife Saver fried chicken, a small chain in the Augusta area.

I dont understand how you can criminalize an are you aren't from or familiar with. You go in someone else's back yard looking for crime and try to demoralize a city. This is a good city. There are not many cities you can go in that don't have crime. You're looking to make a KZitem check, you won't get it in Augusta. There are good people here. Many of the "hoods" you rode through were beautiful neighborhoods built by hard working people of color. They kept there homes up and yards manicured, my grandmother, aunts and uncles included. Don't come to a town going through a forced gentrification to try to make it the worse city you've been to. Last time I checked Florida had plenty of crime too.

There’s not a forced gentrification. It’s called cleaning up. At the end of the day, many neighborhoods we stay in or has those of color are low income and depend on government. We need to be more independent and go out and work harder for what we want. When those old neighborhoods that are in poor conditions, they can easily devalue the other communities around it. Then, when the city decides to clean up. They have to be able to recoup the loss they spent building it back up. Which means the value of the new buildings and homes they built will go up. Some are just okay in thinking them living off government will better their lives. Many of them can actually work but choose not to. So no one is forcing them. They can still stay in the neighborhoods after it’s been renovated but they just have to go out and find work to pay. No one wants to stay in an unclean place I’m sorry.
