These headphones have been among my favorite for music listening and gaming. Really good complimentary set to my HD600 and Sundara. I really like how the bass and mids are presented in this set, and while for my taste the Sundara have the better edge, the AR5000 are a very fierce contender in this price range. Oh, and I'm here to say that I have been enjoying your reviews as they are one of the more detailed and thorough headphones reviews out in KZitem. Have a great one, mate.

@@ashishbarthwal6961 Yeah, and it also changes the tonality of things. Things just sound more natural and "full" with lots of depth if you have the headphones shifted forward. If you push them back closer to behind your head, things do sound more intimate and detailed, but more shouty/harsh, etc.

Thanks for yet another great review Joe! As far as content tips concerned: I noticed there aren't any Austrian Audio headphones in your measurement list yet. I have owned the open back Hi-X65 for close to two years now and still very happy with it. Kind of a sleeper in terms of exposure on youtube as a small company without a big marketing budget but they have really invested in the design and tech of their headphone family. It's built like a tank and more custom and high-tech in terms to it's structural design compared to all the retro design headphones out there. Also much less bare-bones than Sennheiser in materials and look and feel. It makes for an interesting alternative in the 'neutral / long term comfort / monitor style' headphones group you touched up on with this review, I feel. Would love to see you review it (or one of its siblings) one day. Keep up the good work!

I don’t have a well trained ear, but I was encouraged to see you list off some of the same thoughts I had for these compared to the Sundara/Edition XS and the HD 600 lineup. I use EQ, and I feel like these can be EQ’d to add a Harman-like bass response, which I couldn’t do with the HD 600, while ALMOST having as good of midrange. I also felt like the treble gets just as sparkly as I like, where the hifiman’s have a little too much sparkle up top. A really perfect midpoint between the HD 600 and the Sundara/Edition XS, and to me they are way more comfortable than any of those.

This is just so underrated. Imo is a underdog. I blind buy this when it releases in my country. Worth every penny. Sadly i keep leaving comments on youtube channel asking people to review it. Only a few did. Imo this headphone have wow factor. Especially base on how you wear them. The soundstage changes if you move the headphone futher away from your ear and backward it changes it. It can be grand or intimate. It make the sound coming out of your head. I for got which position but thats crazy. Those people that own them try it out. Just move the earcup as mentioned you experience what i am saying. This work very well with kpop. But to hear the effect more try on songs that female vocals + guitar /piano. It really show you the intimate or grand. But the sound coming out of your head its crazy experience. It wow me more than hd600 lol. Hd600 wow me because of micro details . But it lack bass. This is just better overall imo compared to hd600.

Ok, so I'm not audiophile guy, just a customer who's trying to make an informed decision on what to buy. I look everything from repair-ability, customization, product quality, hardware... Software... Etc. And the headphones I taken keen interest in are the Sennheiser HD600's, along with Topping DX3 Pro+. Play games, FPS mainly but enjoy listening to music even if the file formats they're coming from is sub-optimal from what I've heard. If you have any suggestions for different headphones to look up, or Dac/Amp do feel free to throw your suggestions in, they are greatly appreciated.
@JamesEldon
Ай бұрын
Hey there, what you have suggested will definitely serve you well, Topping make great value gear that measures extremely well (basically will be completely transparent and not change the sound signature at all), and the hd600s are a classic headphone. I own the HD6xx which can be found much cheaper and share very similar characteristics to the HD600 + HD650, so it may be worth checking those out if on a budget. Note that the HD600/6xx have a very tight headband when new which can cause discomfort, however there are plenty of videos showing how you can loosen them a little to reduce the clamping force if an issue. I also highly recommend looking into EQ, I use it with all my headphones and allows you to dial them in to your preference. Peace + Equalizer APO are free on windows and are great, if you don't know where to start, search Oratory 1990 and your headphone, he has a great database of measurements and then has prepared EQ settings you can directly copy to bring them in line with the Harman target. That for me (and most listeners) will sound great, and from there you can tweak the bass shelf etc to your personal preference.

The above would be when optimising for music, whereas this channel and others also provide EQ guides for specific games, so you could switch profiles to tailor them to your current use case.

@@JamesEldon Awesome, thank you very much. I'm glad to know my research hasn't been completely in vain. The EQ is something I've been hesitant on, since I haven't been able to research it as much, so getting suggestion on that is great. I do plan on switching to Linux from Windows at somepoint, so I might have to figure out how things work there separately but for now I'm still contempt. I was wondering about 6xx's since they are cheaper and seen bunch of great reviews on them as well, and while I'm not complete bass heavy listener, I do enjoy it as well. Topping DX3 Pro+ is my main question mark as to whether or not it's the best bang for the buck along with my requirements for accessibility on parts etc. since I can solder if necessary, or upgrade. I'll definitely take note and look up videos on Peace + Equalizer APO, and how to best tune the headphones on there to the Harman target, just got to check Oratory 1990 and everything I'm seeing looks to be really comprehensive so thank you a lot mate, I really appreciate the advice.

@@Ezz0Clan No problem at all, it sounds like you are thinking along all the right lines. I personally am using a Topping E30II+L30II which I think equates to a very similar performance as the DX3 Pro+, just using a seperate DAC and Amp. If you are interested in measurements, I can see some testing for the DX3 Pro+ here which I think confirms that it will be excellent performance for the price: www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/topping-dx3-pro-review-dac-headphone-amp.27148/ Also i wouldn't worry too much about file formats for music listening, I used to rip all my music in FLAC lossless to a dedicated server. But after some blind testing, I found that my friends and I could barely tell a difference to regular streaming quality even when directly ABX testing and really trying hard to perceive any changes. And when I'm just relaxing and enjoying gaming/ music I honestly don't feel like I am missing out on anything, so feel free to do your own experimenting, but I'd say nowadays the streaming and codecs used are good enough that they rarely will have a significant impact. Things like getting a good seal on your earcups, or the acoustics of the room for speakers make a far larger difference. Anyways good luck with it all!

LOL. Both are great but I did not directly compare them in this video. Originally I had a ton of comparisons but it got very long winded, and I thought it would be better to make a general comparison video down the road. The SIVGA is more V shape, and has a punchier bass, but also more forward mid range. Both are very comfortable, with the comfort edge going to the Luan. If you want slightly more neutral, but more energetic than Sennheiser HD 6x0 line, then I would consider the AR5000. If you want more of a V shape for EDM/hop hop, or just prefer that kind of sound signature, then the Luan is still a great pick. They also both handle EQ well.

Man, that is a tough one. I think overall I would prefer this more, as it reminds me of the Sennheiser products more that I typically enjoy. The FT3 is a tad warmer sounding, with a tiny amount of shout (more than AR5000). The FT3 has a couple areas where it sounds more relaxed after that touch of shout though, so I think it largely depends on what you listen to. It's a great performing headphone, but also requires a bit more power. So maybe it comes down to your amp source at that point. AR5000 sounds great with almost anything it's plugged in to.

That's a killer deal! Sometimes I feel that the distance for enemies is largely impacted by the game engine more than the headphone itself. I don't think the AR5000 will be a wild departure in terms of performance, but I do think it performs better. The Model One is extremely different and to me greatly benefits from EQ. Without EQ, provided you don't need a closed back, the AR5000 has a better performing sound signature out of the box for FPS.

@@dtz1000 bro have you used audeze Maxwell? Is the bass deep enough or it's just there just to be there, I'll check what you recommend hope I can get it in my country

@@xrecoveryx5526 I have never used the Audeze Maxwell. The AR5000 has enough bass for me but I'm not looking for excessive bass. The bass it does have is tight and controlled and blends in well with the rest of the music.

Do you think it's better to save money and get this over the focal clear?
@Trainwreckstv3tv
Ай бұрын
I have both and focal is much better on a complete different level
@GadgetryTech
Ай бұрын
Focal Clear is quite a bit more for a reason. The bass is the most noticeable improvement, with a nice kick to it and punch that most other less expensive headphones lack. I would EQ the treble peak close to 6k down slightly on the clear, and maybe experiment with a 4khz gain (slightly), but other than that the Clear is a wonderful headphone.

Very interested in these. However, I already have the R70X’s….anyone used both that can weigh in?
@ROCKSTAR3291

Based on frequency response they seem warmer and have better bass extention than the R70x, actually looking very nice for dynamic open back headphones. I also use the R70x daily, one of my favorite headphones.

@@ROCKSTAR3291 appreciate your reply. I do love the R70x’s from a comfort perspective. I WFH and daily drive these as well, love the imaging for FPS gaming. I may give these a shot based on your comments on frequency response. Thanks!

Dude apex legends sound is trash. I don't why people keep expecting for headphones to sound good in that game. You can have HD800s and the sound sucks. Doesnt matter the brand or how expensive they are or the tunning. Everything sucks in apex.

i wonder if these are better than the Audeze maxwells for gaming and music
@Lost1ntheSauc3
Ай бұрын
Yes. Maxwell is great - tons of features and bluetooth - but they come off a little artificial for music listening. Whereas the AR5000 is open back, wired, and very well tuned. All put together, they make a very compelling package for roughly the same price. Another compelling option, if you want a closed-back, is the Sennheiser HD620s which Joe recently reviewed. It's my personal favourite closed-back.

Nice box compared to other companies that come with an brown cardboard box and just hard foam inside. Cough cough hifiman
@dtz1000
Ай бұрын
Hifiman is so overrated. Their Ananda Stealth is one of the worst headphones I ever owned and the AR5000 is better than the Arya Stealth even though the Arya costs several times more. Hifiman is taking the mickey out of consumers because they were the first to market from China. Aune is giving everything they got because they are late to the market and are trying to catch up.

So is this better than edition xs for gaming?
@GadgetryTech
Ай бұрын
If you have an Edition XS already, I would not purchase the AR5000 and assume it's going to be significantly better for gaming. If you do not have either, I would personally prefer to plan on the AR5000 between the two.

"AR" as it pertains to guns, also didn't stand for "Assault Rifle"
@GadgetryTech

I understand. The AR lingo for Assault Rifle is more for that being used as a common abbreviation for Assault Rifles in Call of Duty, or games like it. You often hear SMG, AR, LMG, and BR depending on weapon class. Sorry for the confusion!
