I started photography as an Instax person so you know I love daylight balanced 800 film! I have used very little 800 35mm, normally going for 400. I’ve got several cameras that I’d love to shoot some of this with but especially my trusty ole Pentax Spotmatic II!

it's portra 800 btw i pray it comes out in 120, because paying 35CAD a roll for film is insane . and if anyone from flicfilm is reading this please put your e100d in different cartridges. I have issues fitting it in my contax g1, and then the reel will respool after 25 shots and i lose a quarter of the roll.

We're doubtful it's re-spooled Portra 800. The negative base looks too different to our eyes as do the film scans.

@@reformedfilmlab as confirmed in my other comment, they have said it's not respooled point and shoot film/lomography (max 800) and they would say if it was tungsten based film. There is nothing else it can be. Unless they are making 800 ISO movie film now.

Looks like re-spooled max 800 to me. I'm 99.9% sure flic doesn't make film, but they do have a great setup for respooling E100 and therefore must have a decent relationship with Rochester. I'd be happy to soot a few rolls to compare it to lomo 800.

i should probably add, its not unheard of to respool stuff and sign an NDA. For example. drug stores for years use to respool, superia under life, real canadian superstore, and other such films but noone knew what they were or what they come from. but it was clear that it was just superia, but slightly cheaper. Just like how LG/Samsung makes craploads of monitors but sell the panels to third party. They just wanna push the stuff and giving the illusion of choice on shels actually increases sales. @@MakersTeleMark

To my eye this looks similar to Portra 800 -- slightly washed out tones, mild blues -- which is fine, when pushed the blues seem to shift to almost a grey (skies), but still no terrible grain or contrast mess. Now -- if they could just sell this for $5/roll!!!! Oh -- could not tell so far in the video, is it DX coded? Cheers!!!

The official statement from Flic Film is that it's a custom film from Kodak made specifically for them. Reading between the lines and knowing that it's highly unlikely they'd create a whole new emulsion for a custom order considering the huge R&D process to do so, I'm going to assume it's probably a bespoke run of one of their discontinued consumer 800 emulsions, similar to what Lomo 800 no doubt is. At any rate, it's cheaper than Lomo, and Flic Film is a great company with a huge array of products that caters wonderfully to people with a serious interest in film and film processing, rather than just putting out cute things for the hipster market, so they can have my money any day!
