This aurora was caused by an impulse from a CME that originated from the formation of a new coronal hole. Due to its slow speed and integration with the CIR, it produced a total magnetic field strength of 20nT with almost all of it's magnetic strength in the Bz direction (-20nT Bz) during its peak. The moonlight was at 90%, so it was almost as bright as day, but with an aurora like this, the moonlight was really just a compliment.
