I have been fooling around with a water based rust remover called "Metal Rescue" lately and this stuff will not harm plastics, aliminum or other soft materials at all! It does a pretty good job on rusted steel. It's too expensive to consider a 25 gallon dip tank (unless you own the company perhaps) but for small parts it's worth a try. Google will turn them up and they have a KZitem channel too, so you can find out more at your leisure. good luck with this rebuild.

That is a great idea on cleaning the engine block in the molasses. I was going to try some sheet metal parts but never thought about engine components. Thanks for the video.

My father owned one of those, did all the maintenance himself. Those were the days before computer chips etc.!!

His didn't come with a heater but he bought a kit and plumbed it into the radiator "circuit". It was a van and if I recall correctly the direction indicators popped out at the side.
