He doesn’t even have an accent that’s just his voice from Elvis and he hired a voice coach to help fix it and it’s not as bad as it used to be but he can’t help it. if you watch Hunter S Thompson interviews, and read up that johnny lived with him for a year to learn EVERYTHING about him and Become him for fear&loathing, youll see that Depp has BECOME Thompson. theyre identical in speech and mannerisms. not to mention they were great friends. Depp payed to shoot Hunters remains out of a Cannon as was his funeral wish.

Dude to those people who say that your voice doesn’t change from mimicking others for a long period of time, it does. The southern accent is one of the hardest accents to shake as well once you get into the groove of it.

I had two Mexican friends I couldn’t be with them more than two hours without start talking like them and always need a couple of days to recover my accent I don’t understand the controversy with the voice and accent of Austin after 2 years using them he is a perfectionist and he did a perfect job he needs time to recover his voice and accent probably his vocal cords have been affected forever but he is and will be an excellent actor anyway his deeper voice is really amazing

it's incredible he sings the same at the end of the film we hear Austin Butler sing and we see an end when Elvis was young and it's the real Elvis who sings we see him on the stage at the piano and there is no difference c is identical and he speaks the same as Elvis it's incredible all that in two years it's not long two years to sing, speak and make the same gestures as Elvis he did not speak like the others he said incomprehensible words j I have the blue ray and I put the subtitles on my blue ray and he was saying words and even when he was singing there were a lot of words that we didn't understand with the subtitles I understand and Austin succeeded and it must have been so hard i'm proud of him

Same thing will happen to anyone that hides their natural accents. You go long enough forcing yourself to talk different and eventually it takes less and less effort and you develop a new voice. It’s part of the reason why bullying people for things like accents or dialect can be so damaging

Butler sounds nothing like elvis. They had to overdub elvis real voice over his to make it sound believable in movie. He looks nothing like him. he studied this role for two years, and being that he did this voice for hours and hours ,months and months and eventually years it’s not surprising his voice would be different. It’s not that it’s an Elvis Presley voice he just spent a major part of his life doing it. But it will fade away
