This song is the result of a misheard lyric; I was at an open mic night and heard some one introduce their next song as "Austin Found." Intrigued by the thought and full of curiosity, I waited on the edge of my chair... Only to find that I'd heard him wrong. So I wrote the song myself.
This one goes out to all my road warriors, and to the folks waiting at home for them.
Austin Found
The Colorado wind blows cold as glass
The rushing sound of pine trees says
We're through another pass
The road is cold and dark
We're a thousand miles apart
But memories build a bridge that brings me back
In your arms, that's where I belong
The sweetest ever love song
That always calls me home
However long and however far
This road might take me on
I'm making my way back to the one I love
Ch
I'm headed home to Texas, can't ever stay away
The open skies embrace me, I never want to stray
And if I had the option, I'd never leave again
I'd keep my wandering feet right in this town
'Cause when I'm in your arms I'm Austin Found
The path is long that brought me from there to here
And when I look back I think about
All the passing years
The empty miles of absence
That carry me down this road
And your welcome smile when I get back home
