The NHRA returned to Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals. The overshadowing story of the week without a doubt has been the condition of John Force. With Funny Car star Austin Prock being the only JFR Chevy on the property, he was left to carry the torch on behalf of the entire organization. He was able to do just that as he ended the day #1 Qualifier for both sessions. In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Matt Smith reset the track E.T. record but accused the Vance & Hines team of sandbagging in qualifying. Greg Anderson returned to his familiar Summit Racing colors and ended number 1. And Doug Kalitta continues to build momentum in a topsy-turvy qualifying session.
