One of these was my first car in australia in 1971. 3 on the tree with overdrive and painted tin dash. Others have tried to tell me it was an A 99 because all 110 s had timber! Thank you for backing me up sir !!!!!

My Dad had an Austin Cambridge estate in the exact same colour. He bought it secondhand around 1965/66. I was 4 years old at the time and vividly remember us bringing my baby sister home from the hospital in it. A fabulous car...except for the hole in the passenger side footwell. Wish I had one like it now.

A car long before my time but I've always wanted one. Such fine lines, yet in a dignified British way.

To Michael Brown. Yes, the detailing is so beautiful in 50's and 60's cars! Just get a load of how beautiful the maker's badge is, in the centre of the steering wheel! And because it's ROUND, it goes with the matching round Speedo, etc. In front of it!

Thank you for this. Exactly the same model my father bought second hand for £400 in 1969 (repaired & sold to him after crash). Such memories as was dad's last car prior to his death in 1971. Same colour & trim. What did this sell for £? Thanks again

Fantastic. Don't need to imagine it with a caravan, we had a large fourth birth period caravan with Calor gas lighting, cooking and heating! Towed it no problem, even up and down Sutton Bank, a well known steep hill in the North of England! Those were the days, eh! I want it, but as you know, I can't drive!

British sister of mine (404 Peugeot) designed by Pininfarina. The third sister is Italian : Fiat 1800. Very élégant dashboard, and straight 6. The french and Italian have only 4 cylinders.

I made a mistake. The Fiat 1800 was a 6 straight too. Peugeot had first imagined a 6 cylinders for the 404, but endly chose to use the solid engine of the 403. A Pity...

I think the Lancia Flaminia was more similar to the Westminster than the Fiat 1800. And the "sister" of the 404 is surely the Austin Cambridge A60.

I think you are in Austin Cambridge territory. The Westminster is far grander than the Peugeot/Fiat stuff. And if the Austin Westminster was not posh enough for you, there was always the Wolseley 6/110. And if that were still not good enough, for you, there was the Vanden Plas Princess. The early 1960s truly was a golden age of motoring.

Gareth Ifan - I think it’s rarer than the VDP 4 Litre R. An early manual car with the tin dash is a rare sight these days.

Thamk you for your kind offer, I would love to come. It's a long way for me here in York. But i maybe coming to Dorset again. Pool, Dorset. That's not too far from there, Is it? My sense of direction 'ain't that good!' Wasn't good at Geography. Would you want me to tell you first?! If you have any of the cars roadworthy, it would be nice to have ride! I have put most of my cars. that dad had into a playlist. Obviously, quite a few of them are yours which watch over and over! Sad, aren't I?! In the meantime, I'll look out for some more cars that we had on your channel. Take care. With best wishes Richard.

To Mendham's (etc.) NO! You are not sad .I do the same! I could always drive till I was 50. (I'm 70 now). But although my eyesight is good for everything else it's not good enough to drive any more. I love going for car rides with other people, instead, and I too watch all these videos. I shall be thinking of you, when I do!

Described as a "tin dash model". I think some A99s/A110s were indeed "tin dash". But this one is "formica".

BMC made some major cock ups with this car. Went from a four speed gearbox to a three with smaller rims and tyres. The A95 and A105 were far better looking vehicles The boot was big but the engine bay was a disgrace with that ridiculous air filter pipe across the rocker cover. Used to remove them and fit the good oil bath air filter and never suffered any problems. This body style was the beginning of the end for BMC

I think the fact that socialist indoctrinated workers at Longbridge and Cowley were really the reason for the death of BMC. They wanted to destroy capitalism. And they did. The socialists succeeded in destroying British manufacturing industry.
