Hi Karl, thank you for taking the time to share this content. I have a question though: According to the DHA's website for the 482 Transition Stream, it says that USUALLY, you must be working 3 years while holding the visa. How strict is the DHA with the last part? I've been working for my employer in the nominated position for over 3 years but only holding the 482 for less than 1 year at the moment. - when these changes come into effect, you think I would be able to be successful in my application to the PR?

Hi Karl - I got company sponsor and granted visa 482 (medium long term) in April2023 and now working in Sydney. I am eligible to apply PR after 4yrs work via visa 189 Hong Kong stream. My understanding is that Hong Kong stream does not require company nomination when I do the 189 application. So my question is, tho the new 186 reducing the employment to 2yrs, do I still need the company nomination when I do the 186 application? If not, it’s a great great news! If yes, can I say that 186 vs 189 the differences is not just the 2yrs & 4yrs time but also the nomination cost…?

Hello Karl.. Really appreciate how straightforward you put the info out for us. Could you please suggest how the processing of 190 applications has been affected since last month.. I have lodged a visa on 10th Dec 2022, still showing status as received.

Does the potential acceptance of professional qualifications for UK residents mean that there will be separate skills assessment requirements for certain occupations? Thinking specifically of those of us with plenty of professional qualifications but not the academic ones currently required. Internal Audit Manager here with over a decade experience, plenty of professional qualifications but no degree looking for a way to move to Australia.

This is unfair Taking a 494 request more effort and now a 482 will bring to Pr after 2 years?!? No sense In proportion they should review also the 494! To not talk about the DAMA! People in big cities can get Pr on 482 after 2 years and over 45 while people OVER 45 on 494 under DAMA must wait 3 years. This is completely unfair and show no respect at all towards how has put a lot of effort to follow the immigration rules

I was on a short term 482 visa back in 2017. I had to endure lots of restrictions and jump through so many hoops in order to stay in the country. Wish they had made these changes sooner. Its essentially reverted back to what the 457 was before. I'll never forgive the former government for implementing the overly harsh rules in the first place. Ended up taking me over 6 years to get PR. Utterly ridiculous.

Hiii Karl, now it's been 49 days since I got S57. I am waiting for my student visa (Postgraduate research sector) over a year. Recently I got S57 to upload a new CoE since my last CoE got expired due to this visa delay. I have uploaded a new CoE but there is no update since then. It's really frustating for me. There is no timeframe for S57 to respond. What should I do? How can I ask them to expedite the procedure?
