Hello, really enjoyed the no nonsense style of your video . Really interesting . A thought on the 9ct kook brooch. 9ct S L Lined often referred to a process of heat fusing gold onto silver , so the Kookaburra may be 9ct gold fused onto a sterling base plate to form a cheaper form of jewellery. If this is so ,what a great find. Thankyou.😊

Hello :) Thankyou , glad you enjoyed the video. Most likely you are right about the brooch, I couldn’t find anything on S L Lined on the internet I’ve only heard of gold gilding before. Thankyou for watching and taking time to drop a comment, appreciate it 👍🏼

The small brass balls are identical to the ones on my wrought iron bed, the the ornate brass work at the foot of the bed is held together with threaded ends covered with those balls (screwed on ), also were used by boat builders to hold plaques in place.

Interesting :) I’d never thought about boats …… I’ve seen these balls in old bathrooms before too soap holders and such ……guess they were a pretty universal way to finish things off 👍🏻 thanks for watching and the sub

What an interesting collection of coins and relics found on your latest search. The small 1849 coin and the kookaburra brooch / badge were terrific finds. It just shows what can still be found in heavily searched areas when detecting. Cheers!

Thankyou :) yes it’s always amazing what you can find, especially just going a bit slower and trying to pick up a few of the weaker signals 😀👍🏼

Some interesting finds from that hunt. That Lepton coin is a great find - at first I thought it might be a farthing. Those puddles came in handy for you.Not a nice feeling when you go out detecting and find you've left some gear home -yes I've done it too. Cheers mate.

Thankyou :) yes the thought of a farthing crossed my mind later too 😅 but the absence of a monarch had me puzzled, Yes I think we’ve all forgotten something at some stage 😂😂 thankfully our heads are screwed on tight otherwise we would leave them behind 😂😂👍🏼

Thanks Andrew, yes well I most certainly hadn’t heard of a Lepton before , possibly the only one I’ll ever find unless I go to the Greek islands 🤣😅 👍🏼

I think you may have let the pin from the kookaburra slip through you fingers

I wondered that too myself but a farthing should have a monarch ( in this case Queen Victoria ) But this has the lion of St mark instead 😅👍🏼
