I've watched a lot of videos on Bonsai shaping, but never saw what you did here in bending the branch with heat. Great work. Thank you for sharing your work.

hi my friend.. a new video. very nice. thanks for showing us the nice tree. Your work is amazing.. buuuuuuut the new movement of the deadwood is not mine... it is against the flow of the tree.. i think it would look better without it or with an other angle. The prunus mume is amazing. Outstanding. Greetings from Germany. Holger

Beautiful work! I have a small shohin Pinus nigra here in the US...what maintenance do you suggest doing to the plant now in the start of fall (end September)? Perhaps removing needles along the branches, selecting buds, etc?
@Torabonsaischool

Thanks for watching! Start of fall is good time for removing old needles, yes, also for wiring and cuting branches if necessary.

Thank you for the bending technique. I hadn’t seen that one before. How long do you have to heat the wood to get it to bend like that? How do you know when it is ready to be bent? Thanks again! 👍
@Torabonsaischool
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! First, the wood must be wet, so you literally cook it. It is ready to bend when the wood is soft.

Wow - amazing video as usual!! Get to learn so much from here. Quick question. Austrian Pine is Pinus Nigra. Do you treat this any different than a Japanese Black Pine Pinus Thunbergii (Two flush pine) when pruning? I have checked around but there’s not much info on pinus nigra apart from some ppl saying it to treat it as a single flush pine like the Scots / mugo.

Yes, the treatment is different. On Pinus nigra I just pinch the candles and never cut them fully off as is case with JBP. As you know Pinus nigra is single flush pine and as such produce buds just once in the season.

Thanks so much for the prompt response. This really helps. I was confused as they are both black pines and I just bought one off a garden centre last week.

Hello, I'm in the UK and all the Pinus Negra here seem to have much longer needles than the one in you video. Is it possible to grow to reduce them in size at all please?
@Torabonsaischool

Pinus nigra naturaly grows longer needles then sylvestris or mugo. So it is suited for bigger size trees. Although with time and ramification the size can be signifocantly reduced. So, big size, good ramification and needles are suitable for the tree ...
