Im just glad to get a hate free response. If you enjoy it thats great, I was always hoping for more stuff like inculabula, and i was frustrated that their image and reputation for making difficult to access music seemed more important than the beautiful stuff they did years ago, and have now distanced themselves from. I read they found their early albums cheesy. That pissed me off a bit.

Ha! I would say that. But I've been thirsty for new stuff. Been downloading their live sets. Their set from 2005 in Glasgow is amazing. There's no audience noise - just a pure soundboard rip. It's like a whole new album... one that sounds like Untilted (since it was the Untilted tour). I recommend downloading it if you want to hold out for Exai.

I think Quaristice is pretty good too, and exai has some good tracks; check out jatevee C for example. And speaking of the first three albums, I don't think Incunabula was all that great. I used to think the same thing about autechre, then I gave them another shot and realized that yes some tracks aren't al that great, but there are others that are absolutely amazing. Autechre is a bit iffy, but those tracks that are good are on a whole other level from anything else out there.

Yeah, like waves in the sea, except, in my opinion, more boring. But my fridge is a better point of reference: it really never repeats itself without variation! Applying some algorithm to make up that variation to that simple structure. They should work more! They've done substantial stuff, but I just find this track here quite shit. But that's just me.
@enforcement2
6 жыл бұрын
There are two or three elements which do not seem to have been varied. There is variation in the track overall. However, as these are prominent elements of the track, this can be critical. Therefore I agree with you that bland repetition and a lack of variation can be detrimental and exhausting in lengthy tracks. This is an interesting topic actually. And perhaps also an interesting placement of this track. The prominent sound therein, which to me seems reminiscent of a guitar or a piano chord, seems to have in some form appeared again in their recent releases. These releases are lengthy, especially if they are meant to be listened to as a whole. I listen to them as a whole. Not seldomly with shuffling enabled. But to get back to what I wanted to mention, a few of these tracks reach twenty to nearly thirty minutes. This then again leads to the aspects mentioned before, namely repetition and variation.
@kenmken
5 жыл бұрын
There's no point working on more variation. They are fully able to, but they don't because that's the product they want and that many others enjoy. This is the feel they're going for, if you can't understand it or enjoy it, it's not for you. I'm saying this being someone who can't enjoy a lot of their songs but never the less understand that many others do and that this is exactly what they were going for
