This authentic south Asian rice porridge is very famous during Ramadhan time. its super nourishing and really delicious. The measurements here is for one pot of conjee that serves 8 people or you can freeze and reheat the next day for consumption. I have made it thick which is how i like it but you can add water and thin it out as preferred.
INGREDIENTS :
FOR THE BASIC CONJEE:
1 cup of Jeerakashala rice. (you can use any kind of white or brown rice).
1/4 Tsp of fenugreek seeds.
1 cup of thick coconut milk.
Four pods of garlic.
1 stick of cinnamon.
Salt to taste.
FOR THE MEAT MIX:
500grms or 1kg of beef bone in cut into pieces. You can add less or more meat, really depends on the flavor range you want. Chicken can also be used.
1 big bombay onion chopped.
1 whole garlic and 2 inch ginger smashed together.
2 medium sized tomatoes chopped.
1 big table spoon of ghee.
1 bay leaf.
4 pods of cardamom.
3 cloves.
1/4 tsp of cumin seeds.
2 Tbsp of Sri lankan curry powder .
1 Tbsp of red chilli powder.
salt to taste.
1 soup bullion cube. (please don't use this, if you want the original and traditional taste).
