I definitely do this, I feel like I've pretty much been masking all my life....mimicking things to make it seem like I'm normal.....I just feel like I'm a Mime......Not truly sure who I am....I do really really really love your videos because I find them quite helpful & it makes me feel better to understand some of the different things that I do...😊

I do it all the time. I've been actively doing it since 2nd grade. I wanted other kids to stop picking on me for being different. I was placed in tons of gifted and talented classes growing up. Was picked on even more for "special treatment or privileges." Super Power is mimicking others without trying 🙃 Thank you for your videos, they help out so very much. 💜💕🦋🔥👑🔥🦋💕💜

This made me aware of how good I bcame at hidding when I am stimming in public °v8 And I don't rehears but I do imitate the facial expression of the one who speaks to me because I once saw a documentary with a program that imitateted facial expression or not toward someone talking to it. The researchers made people talk to a very early stage AI and programmed it to imitate their expression or not and the people said that the AI which imitated their expression seemed more friendly, more approachable. So I start to imitte people who talk to me to make them more comfortable or I do the exact oposite to make them understand that I don't like them or I disagree. And about the last, since we live in a world when it is very common to have your nose on your phone 24/7, I can easily sit in a corner to read a book on my phone during those parties or watch videos. There is less and less judgement and it is best among friends the same age as me (26) or in big family gathering. I hated it when my mom could still host those gathering because I was put at work with serving food and drinks so I couldn't hide. But now that she is relatively broke, no more gathering or party at home! Yay! (not sarcastic, I am genuinely happy and she deserve what came to her since she didn't listen to our advices) Thank you for reading

So…I’m devouring videos on autism lately because I think my husband is autistic….but I’m finding that I’m starting to think that I might be, too!! Am I just “seeing” autism everywhere, now? Most of my life, I had major social anxiety and any sort of party was torture. I remember holing up in bathrooms, wondering how long was acceptable to stay in the bathroom before it looks weird. Im 59 now, and I’ve learned to be good at masking, even tho I still can’t breathe when I have to go to social events. I shake my foot when sitting, or rub my thigh, or rub my fingers together when stressed.

i mask all the time. It was cool to find out what it was. It was something I done before i knew what it was. I have ADHD and also ASD. i am 41 now an spent most my life masking as I got diagnosed with ADHD when i was 37 I think. Asd last year. My parents had me under drs as a kid. But they decided to withdraw me as a kid as they didnt want me to be labeled.

I use mimicry in masking. I cannot help but ape the person. I cannot be myself. But there are a couple people I trust enough to be more like myself around. My boss, I mask the most around. I find I copy his mannerisms to the point of impersonation. It’s embarrassing when he catches on, but I can’t stop.

Most of the Time I’m. Not sure if I’m masking or not . I feel like my brain only knows what I see off of others so I may copy them . I had got very good at masking from a young age but am starting to come true to myself and my values as I better myself.

Huh, if that is the criteria for Autism masking, than the one time someone suggested I was masking was inaccurate. Apparently they misunderstood what masking was and mistook my silence or other behaviors as masking. Perhaps masking for a different mental health issue takes on different attributes and they overlayed what they understood from their situation as being applicable to mine, but didn't realize the criteria where different.

Unlearning, because I don't want to do it anymore (e.g., liking my own comment when I'm skipped over for expressing my own opinion). You should know what's that's like.
