He's not autistic. And he never loved Retsuko, he only speaks when spoken too and don't like "human" interaction (he prefers his plants in his home) He only dated Retsuko because he was pressured by his "friend" Manumaru. Part of him being him is because he just daydreams, nothing more. And for Retsuko, he just legit doesnt care at all and has absolutely no interest in her. He's pretty much what they call in Japan : Hikikomori = A shut in. This has NOTHING to do with Autism at all, idk why you all got that idea, but sorry to burst that bubble lady and gents. Hikkimori symptoms fit him perfectly : While many people feel the pressures of the outside world, react by complete social withdrawal. In some more extreme cases, they isolate themselves in their bedrooms for months or years at a time. They usually have few or no friends. In interviews with current or recovering , media reports and documentaries have captured the strong levels of psychological distress and angst felt by these individuals.

I'm glad to see an analysis of Resasuke like this. Honestly I felt bad for him since it seemed like a lot of the romance was being pushed on him, we never really got to see it from his perspective. In a way, the show almost antagonizes Resasuke for it as if he's an uncaring person, when really it was just that he was pushed into a relationship and he was clueless about it. Resasuke likely thought of Retsuko as nothing more than a friend and Retsuko was just projecting her feelings onto him. His face literally changes whenever Retsuko is high on love and his face reverts back to how he actually looks once she snaps out of it, that was a great visual representation of how the relationship was. Retsuko was too infatuated with her flawed idea of who Resasuke was to learn how to communicate with him properly: Resasuke is the kind of person that has a hard time "taking hints" like that, someone like Retsuko who prefers to be indirect and hide her feelings would struggle to communicate with him. If she just straight up asked him if she could sit down for a bit or asked him if she could borrow his jacket, chances are he would have been fine. Don't take this as me shaming Retsuko; the relationship couldn't have worked out anyway since Resasuke showed no real signs of him wanting it and he just had zero chemistry with Retsuko. I guess I'm just more inclined to empathize with Resasuke since I really like the dude. If its true that he was intended to be autistic (which I can really see honestly), perhaps that makes me sympathize with him more since I am also on the spectrum.

I like in your videos about autistic headcanons how they show that possible autistic characters come with different varieties and personalities much like autistic people in real life. There are some, who stim visibly, and some, who stim more discreetly or don't stim much or at all. There are some, who are energetic, and some, who are calmer. There are some, whom NTs think as friendly, and some, whom NTs think as rude. There are some, who have special interests, and some, who don't have special interests.

I really wish the show had given him a chance to say what he wanted. I imagine if he was able to dictate his relationship, he'd probably ask for his partner to be more direct. I like that they showed characters like this, but it would have been cool to hear his side of the story. If they went for the angle of him and Retsuko working on communication together, I think these two could have lasted a long time.

i found Resasuke to be a very relatable character like how in real life people had a hard time understanding me because of how low and monotone my voice is or lack of expressions on my face, hell the most relatable thing about him is how he seems to come off as rude which for me people always thought I came off as rude because of how much I wouldn’t pay attention or because I have a “resting bitch face” or because people can’t hear me and think I’m talking smack about them, but ngl Im starting to question if I’m autistic because of this observation but either way I just wish we got to see more of him😂
