So long as your refrigerant doesn't leak down you're fine. I've done thousands of air-conditioners and I'm not a fan of recharging because you don't know if you're low until you recover and weigh the refrigerant. So the procedure is recovering, measure and recharge. If you don't open the system you can just add 3 ounces of oil, but unless you open and clean the system don't add lots of oil.

1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane is an inert gas used as a refrigerant for automobile air conditioners and both of these are the same. (HFC-134a) is to be replaced by a new refrigerant HFO-1234yf in automobile air-conditioning systems. California will also prohibit the sale of canned 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane to individuals pretty soon. Mercedes Benz has had some objection to HFO1234, but looks to be the substitute.

I have always heard that the high efficiency parallel flow condensers work much better than the early single pass units. In fact, they were introduced for use with R134 systems. Seems more relevant and necessary than the evaporator. Sorry, not trying to discredit you or question your credentials. God bless.

No, I did not made a mistake. I started back in the 80's with R12 and probably did over four thousand retrofits. I'm also a Master ASE and L1 Advanced including the MACS HVAC certification. R134 is less efficient without a doubt, but better than R12 for the Ozone layer. Back in the R12 days we even had copper evaporators and ran fine. R134 evaporators have to be bigger and we ran into issues due to that, since the plastic housing was meant for a smaller evaporator.

Yes, no doubt about the dual parallel flow condensers. But the original issue is that R134 is less efficient at removing heat. It's just better for the planet. HFO1234yf (replacement for R134) is even better for the planet. I tend to think it'll be more efficient because it's a little flammable, but that's just conjecture on my part. Thanks so much for sharing. I welcome different points of view on my channel. That's how we learn.

The design makes this AC a possible alternative to ductless DYI systems. It works great. The remote control could be more visual aid oriented like a backligh design. Is impossible to see the lcd at least for me. Easy install kzitem.infoUgkx_hHgTlzH3uk31Fe2RVS3xEbXHGaN_z5Tation. Came on time . Great comfort around the house 5 🌟 again. Follow mfg instructions for care and all and this should be the only AC you need for those of is that don't live in new homes with central AC

Diagram at 1.51 shows "liquid" leaving the compressor. Thought this would be a hot high pressure gas? Which is cooled and condensed to a liquid in the condenser.

This video is terrible and should either be fixed or taken down to avoid confusing readers. It is not only backwards in function and operation but also contains a gross error. In 1:50 seconds into the video, someone hand sketched a flow diagram that is incorrect. The flow diagram shows liquid at compressor OUTPUT and its input being a Hi-pressure, high-temp gas at input side. 1. CAD layout annotation of compressor hi / lo ports vs. hand drawn flow diagram found in 1:50 - backwards thus showing reversed port flows. 2. Involves hand-annotated flow diagram showing output side as being a low-pressure liquid output. This is wrong / incorrect. Compressors can't compress liquid / fluid. Both sides (Hi & Lo) involve gas. One is lo-pressure incoming gas while the output section is the compressed gas at high-pressure and at high temperature. This video is incorrect and is going to confuse readers.

2001 Hyundai Sonata - I thought at first it needed a recharge of R134a , it only took 1/3 of a can I noticed the clutch wasn't turning on the compressor , so what's next where are the high and low pressure switches located or the compressor cut off switch , I checked all the 10 amp fuses all good? if I check the resistance across the 2 wires coming out of the AC compressor clutch what should it read?

You made a mistake with the R12 to 134A requirements: Evaporator does not need to be replaced. You must have meant the condenser. 134A cars have a more efficient parallel flow condenser. Also helps to run an extra pusher fan on the condenser of a converted R12 system for better cooling.

Very informative video, well done. Just wondering if anyone here can suggest with the situation I am having with my car. I have Mercedes W203 1.8 Petrol auto 2006 model. AC was running fine while I was driving and then I switched on the climate control which set the AC to full speed, I used it for 5 minutes and then turned off the climate control. After that AC stopped cooling. I refilled the gas twice also but still it doesn't blow cool air anymore, Can you suggest what part in the AC system is potentially not working here and how can I check it ?

I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer ES. My A/C problem seemed to be when my car is at a stand still. I have 2 condenser fans motor and I have seen both of them turn on and off which tells me that they are working..... possibly not working right but at least I seen them clicking on and off? But when I'm driving my A/C is nice and cold. I mean really really good COLD air but once I stop the vent slowly starts to pull in some warm air. I do have experience in the HVAC (residential, commercial, and industrial) but I know auto A/C has the same principle but it is a little different as well compare to a home unit. I just hate to base my reading off of my gauges when in fact I probably have a air flow problem and don't wanna assume I overcharge the system, undercharge, or have a clogged system. I did investigate my condenser which looks to be in good condition and may be a little dirty which I'll clean shortly but nothing out of the ordinary. My question is what could possibly be the problem? The last thing I don't want is a clogged system but like I've said before my car has no problem at all cooling down when I'm driving. Any help would really be appreciated!!!

Also if you live in a higher altitude the air is less dense and the fans just running isn't sufficient enough to remove the heat. As you drive your allowing a higher volume of air move through your system.

the AC compressor is driven by a belt directly connected to the engine. this puts some, not alot but some strain on the engine, making your engine work more. same as hydraulic power steering.
@greygoose82t.16
9 жыл бұрын
Because when you turn on the AC, the clutch on the AC compressor engages and will use the turning power from the crankshaft via the AC belt to turn the compressor and as a result puts on a greater load on your engine. This puts more drag on your engine and consequently your fuel consumption.
@osamaFXX

+2phalanges Because the compressor that circulate the whole system is attached by a belt to the engine which causes extra gas consumption to run the car and the AC system. normal car battery cant keep up with demanded power the AC requires. EV cars and some Hybrids use battery powered AC systems because of the enormous rechargeable battery these cars have.
