Is there a video of something like this in action? I am looking and I can't find anything

I haven't seen these in action because everyone freaks out about the carbon tetrachloride... Apparently that chemical is not environmentally friendly and that's why you don't see these around any longer... It would be great to see one in action though! 😃

So this attacks or displaces the oxygen which in turn puts out the fire? That's how a firefighter once explained it to me when we brought some in from an old barn.

Carbon tetrachloride is still used as in Halon-104 for fire fighting.

Wow! Is that why they tell you not to remain in the area when those Halon extinguishers go off? Interesting! I always thought it depleted the O2 in the area... Thanks! 😃👍

no, it's sealed, in fact if it is installed on the mount and everything it will still preform it's duty when the time comes. so i'd leave it be, just be sure it isn't in a spot where it could get broken when there is no fire

metallitech- "Carbon Tet" is an amazing chemical with many uses, from fire extinguishers to refrigerant to Dry cleaning and even finding water marks on stamps! Too bad it's so toxic to humans! Thanks for watching! 😃👍

IF the temperature reached 165 degrees fahrenheit, would anyone still be in the area and alive?
@ScoutCrafter
8 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting point, the highest recorded temperature on Earth was 134 degrees (F) Iran hit a "heat index" temperature of 165 a few years ago... So I guess although uncomfortable it would be survivable... Being that heat rises and this device is meant to be placed near the ceiling I suppose it was well thought out when designing this contraption. 😃 Back then before computer simulations I'm sure they set fire to a few rooms to prove their design... Thanks for the query! 😃👍

Hello Sue! Don't panic! =) They are a sealed glass container and are safe, it's only if you drop it and stick around... I bet there are a lot of people willing to purchase it but I don't think you can send it thru the mail, especially with the way the Post Office handles their packages! If it should drop or break just leave the area and open some doors and windows, the fumes will dissipate and the liquid will dry up quickly. It's not as bad as it sounds, they just don't want you trying to clean it up right away after a spill... Hope that helps! =)
