A couple of years ago I made a series of films about landing grounds listed in the 1938 Automobile Association register. It was an interesting subject to research although it garnered comparatively few views. However, the series was primarily made for interest, not popularity.
Wilmington Aerodrome was listed in the 1933 guide and deserves a bit of attention. Wispers, near Midhurst, has recently been sold and the hangar is being very sympathetically converted into a dwelling.
Music: ‘Honeysuckle’ by Honeyroot.
Maps: National Museum Of Scotland and my own collection.
Photos: Air-Britain, Jack Meaden, Peter Amos, JM Gradidge and others. I try to contact photographers were possible but this is not always successful. Please contact me if you want a credit in the description and your name will be added.
Newspapers and Journals: British Newspaper Archive and others.
Aerial photos: ‘Britain From Above’ and others.
