For everyone like me, who can't stand the head movement especially in pitch in this sim: I got everything off and head movement at 15-20%. That gives me the closest to iracing I can get. Not static but also not too much movement

agreed , works perfectly fine like this . i just let my eyes track the road ahead naturally.

Yah ultimate solution is what iracing does and then allowing people some leeway in tweeking things a bit , Using full lock to horizon just ends up being a bit of a hacky way to make things comfortable. I think its basically "lock to track" with smoothing for small bumps so its easy to track road / you are not having to keep moving eyes around to track and object on the screen.

Same 20% but with legacy head movement

@@GamerMuscleVideos but that’s how it is in real life , you move your eyes to track the road ahead. The monitor is just a virtual windscreen. Everything else is static, the windscreen, the dashboard and the seat you are in . Nothing in the foreground moves.

Mines about the same. Gets too bumpy on some tracks though. I go less movement for tracks with elevation changes, and more on flat tracks to dampen bumps.

Very exciting video I know 👍. This still doesn't fix the cam issues in AMS2 but it's best I could get after messing around more. Hopefully it's helpful to Somone ☕ - Some commenters are getting confused over "what looks good" VS what is borderline comfortable for people that get motion sick / eye fatigue easy.

A better alternative is use legacy mode ON with head movement between 0-30. The horizon's a bit shaky at first but once you get used to it it looks a lot less silly than GM's bouncy dash cam.
@GamerMuscleVideos

Its not about what "looks silly" the "horizon a bit shaky" will literally make a huge number of people have a ton of eye fatigue and a large number of people feel motion sick. For people that get motion sick they will happily take look silly over feeling sick.

What we see is about far more than the input to our eyes. When your visual system becomes confused by contradictory inputs some people will experience motion sickness. What works for some might induce it in others. It is important to take a break for a short time if you do feel sick, go outside and look into the far distance should help to stop the symptoms quickly. The visual system is adaptive and learns from experience which is a double edge sword, on one side it can learn to compensate and understand the inputs, on the other side it can make a long term association between these input conditions that are difficult to break so please don’t try to force your way through the feeling of motion sickness.

All we really need now are settings to fix the horrific shadows. They're a shimmery/jagged mess in VR, and multiple sources have said this is just a limitation of the madness engine. I tend to run with shadows off entirely more than on, and that's not a good experience either. This is the only thing that stops this being my go to sim.

Spot on. Need to try your settings later. Something tells me I am going to like it. BTW, the so called 'drivers eye camera' in F1 ( a lot of people hype about it) is the greatest BS on this side of the Galaxy. The human body, eyes and the incredible brain -- that is the best image stabilization system ever. Period. You don't believe it? Drive your family car a bit too fast over a railroad crossing. Your visual will still be rock solid. This idiotic shaking only exists if the drivers eye camera is fixed mounted and has no IS whatsoever. Cheers.

Exactly. I've been saying this for years. Even the commentators are like "this is the most accurate view of what the drivers see." Tf? How can you say this? You've driven an f1 car before!

Also a good comparison is the difference between playing in VR and watching a video of VR footage.. VR recording will look crazy all over the place , yet VR will be super tame when using it. So sure the pov is close but the experience is totally different due to FOV , eyes , brain filtering motion and ton of other things 😆

I prefer legacy head movement YES and everything else OFF or 0. That locks the camera 100% to the car which is the most realistic. In real life the car doesn't move and bounce separately from your own body/head/eyes. You and the car move and bounce as one. And it should be the same thing with the on screen car and the steering wheel on your sim rig. The on screen car should never move independently of the steering wheel in your hands. This does mean that the track shakes slightly, but if you're looking far enough ahead, as you should be, then your brain and eyes filter it out just like they do in real life.

That was a very helpful video (as usual ; ), GM. The only one thing I disagree with - given not everyone can afford the high-end gear you are currently using. But it is my understanding the the SHOW HELMET OPTION can help people with lower-end PC's get better frame-rates, due to simply not having to draw as much moving track detail on the screen. But of course you do always make it very clear & point out that it's up to the person to choose what is both best for them AND their PC System. [:]-)

I am sorry, but I can't get this game to work with my brain. I played many hours in PC2 but when I play AMS2, it is like I am a drunken sailor. The feeling of being on a trampoline, cars not handling/steering as expected (after calibration using my fanatec 2.5), the camera system making me feel sick, the list goes on and on. I simply do not have any of these issues with any of the other sims. I also play Iracing, AC, ACC, RF2, PC2 ect ect ect. Seriously about to set fire to AMS2

Why is it so hard for sims other than iracing to get it right. Just keep the horizon stable and have the car bounce around. That's the most accurate representation of the human eye's internal gyro anyway.
@GamerMuscleVideos

I think its a hard balance to get right in-terms of what frequency of bumps you filter out iracing still has the cam/car move from larger bumps and still has some cockpit movement relative to the camera its just toned down quite a bit.

Sucks that you get motion sickness because the solution of the dashboard/car bouncing around like a weightless bit of cardboard is extremely 'immersion' killing.
