Wow, this was fascinating! I hope to own a greenhouse someday. Right now, I have 40+ potted plants in my apartment balcony 🤣 Do you think a simpler version (without sensors) this can be done in an apartment (the biggest issue I can imagine is, my pots are not of same size - so uneven watering)? It would save me almost an hour every week.

That’s a great use of sensors - genius! Will attempt to build out our greenhouse too :)

I got distracted by the insect that flew between your arm 😅. I thought it was a mosquito, but is not. I'm amazed by the design and ability! I have to slow it down to 0.25x so I can see it better (the camera shutter speed matches the wing beats). The way that it moves so fast around you and its wings that is flapping faster than itself! It was wondering/attracted by your appearance or your body heat. Or maybe the thing that you're doing? I think? 😅

Looks like a horse-fly. They like warm and wet places, and bite :) We have a lot of them here in Latvia

In short - 1 month. These small solar panels performed good in spring by charging lithium 18650 to 100%, but they were too weak in the autumn. Devices do report every 20 minutes or on demand. (Arduino sits in deepsleep mode with removed LED)

Very interesting setup. How are the moisture sensors holding up? I understand that after a while they are prone to some leakage from the side

Valid question. There are no problems with these capacitive soil moisture sensors after 1 year of use - www.aliexpress.com/item/32832538686.html. I have heard that soil moisture sensors are made of metal oxidizing and the readings remain incorrect, but not with these. But with these you should do calibration of each sensor separately and also wire length affect measurement.
