My rudbeckias failed too, but i was weeding recently (in Australia - it's spring here) and lo and behold! there were eight or so baby rudbeckias that had self sown. i was so relieved - quickly transplanted into a bed and they're away. A really important flower I reckon 😅 Good luck with yours ❤

I love those first few weeks in spring when mystery plants appear and I have to desperately try and remember what I had in there that might be coming back. Glad your rudbeckia came back for you, here’s hoping I get some too🌱

@@fromthewitchsgarden They're easy to spot - hairy, little round leaves. You can get really good at recognising seedlings!

@@alisonburgess345 Thanks for the tip, I will keep my eyes peeled for hairy little monsters although the seeds I planted in this video are doing pretty well already with 9 out of my 12 cells germinated. The Cherry ones seem to be taking longer than the others.

I'm winter sowing everything but lisianthus this year. I can totally imagine why you don't want to plant sunflowers in a limited space garden! Hope you get good germination!

I was about to sow my lisianthus, can I ask why you are waiting? The sunflower were so big they became impossible to harvest and the pollen drop was too much, I’m really hoping for rudbeckia this year. Good luck with your growing 🌱

I think in my zone (6) you are supposed to sow them in December but since they are all from saved seeds and not something I've sunk a bunch of money into maybe it would be worth a couple of successions?

@@mhubertcfi ah ok, its my first time trying lizzies so I am a bit nervous as they are known for being a pretty picky flower to germinate. My seed packed says Sept-Oct or Jan-Mar so I will try now incase they fail and then try again in Jan.
