There is no detail I don’t love watching in these videos. Seeing your art come to life from raw material and then multiple finished pieces to ogle in your oh-so-coziest of homes is just heart warming. BEAUTIFUL Skibs!😲 Thank you for journey.❤

Oh my Hanna you are Living in a Glorious World inside that cozy Studio..... As long as I had willow and food I would never come out of there, lol..... I am 65 and have never worked with willow here in the USA but I always wanted to live making stuff from it.....You are in Willow Heaven in there creating absolutely amazing things, to me it would be Pure Therapy to stay busy day in and day out with God's Willow to Spark the Soul within.....Thank you for sharing your dream that you are accomplishing, just Peaceful it is.....

I love your willow work. All of the willow that I work with is wild gathered along the banks of the river that streams through the town. In the past few years the water was low and the ice did not knock the willows down to make a new willow harvest for the coming winter. I Have worked in construction 53 years. I wish you would have covered the fibre glass insulation with a polatyne before the wire, That stuff is always sheding fiber. Not a good thing to breath in. Health and happiness.. Chuck

Everything is looking beautiful. One of the things I enjoy the most is watching you work in a space that is not yet finished and yet your presence makes it so beautiful, vibrant and full of life. It speaks so much about enjoying the "process" whatever it is one is doing. Thank you for sharing : )

Awesome! Looks like you and your family have been very busy! Studio is looking great! That work bench looks slick! You will have to keep an eye out for an old piece of drift wood that would work perfectly for you! Can't wait to see that daub wall with your baskets hanging on it! You have a gallery built into your studio with such a great view with your windows! Hey! Finally my willow beds are kicking in here. I think I will keep expanding them now that I have a clue on how to plant a successful willow bed. We have a lot of side hills here so I am going to try to grow some willow on them to hold them in place. Fun, fun, fun!

Made cuttings from my willows today, from three saplings I planted last year to 20. Hopefully in a year or two it'll be established enough for me to start weaving. In the meantime I have your videos. I'm seeing some nice colors in the varieties I have. I'll try to find to some more, I love the colors you have!

Hi Hannah. I love your videos. Is that black maul you use in the wreath? I've been collecting willows from old Sally beds around Ireland. I think I have brown maul.
@HannaVanAelst
2 жыл бұрын
Hi James, great to hear you enjoy my videos thanks! The willow I used for the wreaths is an unknown triandra. It grows a little too big and is a little knobbly but very flexible. I use it a lot for the skib borders too. Brown maul is a very common variety yes, lovely to work with and grows very easily too.

Hi there! Just stumbled upon your channel and have been watching several in a row. Forgive me if this seems obvious, but what are the large woven circles? Are they rugs? Wall hangings for art? Either way, your work is beautiful and I have learned much from your content thus far. I really like your workspace as well!
@HannaVanAelst

Welcome aboard! The large circles are called skibs, they are traditional Irish potato baskets that are now used as contemporary wall pieces....with a story... (historical use as potato strainer / table to eat from.
