Very cool. This is how people used to not only cut their lawn, but also harvest tall grass for livestock, and wheat to be threshed to be ground in a mill to make flour. Back breaking work, and it wasn't all that long ago this was how it was all done. But this older gentleman is certainly up to the task. Great vid. 👍
@devanov3103

The collecting of the mown grass is the back-breaking part. That's why old farmers often have hunchbacks. Because they've been picking up produce from the ground every year. The scything is actually very healthy for your back, you only need two scythes, one left-handed and one right-handed, so you don't end with the proportions of an english longbow archer.

When i was a kid we had this weird scythe like thing i used in this field next to our house You held it kinda like a golf club and the blade was positioned like an angled hoe blade, the blade was long and bladed on both sides You didnt go in an arc. But swung it straight side to side with a gold club grip as you walked, it was one hell of a workout and very soothing at the same time
@christanice

Yes, we used those to clear brush at a summer camp... I knew about regular scythes but had never seen one like that. It actually was pretty efficient on multi floral rose and other skinny brush.

I think the way he is using the scythe is that he drags the middle part of the outer edge to give him stability, -also because the the blade is curved - therefore preventing him from sticking the blade in the ground

You can see the wild Scyther in its environment. Scyther is an adept hunter that tears at its prey with its scythes. Thanks to its green coloration, it can camouflage itself well in the grasslands and forests where it lives. Humans rarely encounter wild Scyther in these areas, however. Said to be like a ninja, Scyther can move so quickly that it cannot be followed, increasing the effectiveness of its scythes. It maintains the sharpness of its blades through battle as well as by cutting through hard objects, such as trees; it can cut down a massive tree with just a single slice, although it cannot penetrate Tarountula's elastic threads.
