I live 20 mins west of Toronto, have a Black 4Runner Limited and am in construction sales (always in the dirt). I applied Avalon King over 1.5 years ago. My vehicle shines even when dirty/dusty and the water still beads and sheets. I go through a touchless car wash almost once a week and have never used a topper. This product amazes me. I also applied it to my windows, when I am on the highways and it is raining, I rarely use my wipers. Great product for a great price, especially when you can get it on sale.

amazing content Pan. you're the best One of my favorite coatings. I use this for clients who tell me they just purchased a new vehicle and quickly want it protected. I'll do a very quick light clay and one step polish IPA wipe down and then apply this coating to their vehicles and they are blown away. I've used Crystal Serum Ultra and CQuartz but why go through the stress of those when you can relax and not worry about anything with this great alternative. I've convinced other customers to let me put this on their vehicles instead of those and through my instructions they actually assisted me applying this. they were thrilled to be a part of coating of their own vehicle with me using an easy and quality product that is hard to mess up as they were scared to. I assured them that's why we were using Armour shield because anyone can do it. if it was CSUltra. I wouldnt let them touch it 😆 I get that pro coatings should be done with extreme care and meticulously but this stuff just proves that it shouldn't have to be. I believe those higher tier coatings are created to be extremely hard to get done correctly on purpose so consumers are forced to have no choice but to pay thousands to the coating shops. .. and that isn't right. if you purchase a coating you should be allowed to do it yourself. no questions asked and for that reason I don't use certified only coatings anymore. even though I've gotten them from pros before. it's just a scam to make installers money. A client came to me after he had his car repainted and it wasn't even bad just needed a compound and polish. i said what the heck? he told me he went to do that and have it coated but the coating shop said it'd be 2 grand or more 😆 🤣 so he left, had it repainted for 1000 then had me clean it and apply Armour shield a month later for a extra couple hundred. ..... so it costs half the price to repaint and coat your car with this than it does to just polish and coat with "certified only" coating. one could justify a couple hundred dollars . but don't know where they get 2200$ from. that's lunacy. I'd paint my car again too over going to just get a polish and coating. makes no sense

Since your recommendation, I use Avalon King as well, but after having used Swissvax for decades, I wasn’t happy with the brilliance! So, I let it dry for a week and then use the Swissvax pre-wax cleaner Regular, with contains Montanöl, which gives a depth to the shine, and then Swissvax „Christal Rock“, and you have both: long-term protection by Avalon Ceramic Coating and the shine of Swissvax! Brilliant!

Hi Pan, if I apply one coat of avalon king a year ago and would like apply another coat on top of that coat, what should be my sequence of work from the below? I assume I won't have to follow the full process. Please suggest. 1. Rinseless wash 2. Snow foam 3. 2 buckets wash 4. Chemical decontamination 5. Mechanical decontamination 6. Compound/polish with DA polisher 7. IPA wipe 8. Ceramic coating (Avalon king) FYI: I'm aware that I will be using topper on my existing ceramic coat to keep the gloss and shine
@PanTheOrganizer
3 жыл бұрын
If you do all that, it's great, but you will be entirely removing what you already have. Which can be a good thing starting fresh. You would add the first coat, wait 45-60 minutes, then apply the 2nd coat. Wait 48 hours without exposing to water or rain. Wait 7 to 14 days without washing the car. If you want to keep the protection that is currently on your car (if you're satisfied with it still going strong), you can wash the car, use an iron remover, don't clay or polish as that would damage the coating, IPA wipe, and then reapply a fresh layer.
@tanz1m

I’d have to say, I tried Armor Shield by applying the coating last summer and am rather disappointed. After a correction, including iron decontamination, I applied the coating. I could tell this summer that the coating had failed on all the horizontal surfaces (hood, roof, deck lid) and wasn’t very hyper phobic on the vertical surfaces. I’m leaning back towards using a sealant at this point.

Unfortunately, as is the case for any coating, they aren't magical force fields. They do require some form of maintenance every 2-3 months if you want to reach maximum performance and durability. Even the best pro grade coatings that cost thousands require maintenance. I made a tutorial on how to do a maintenance wash on a coated car here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/qqd_vWtuf5-DjIo Also, sometimes, a coating might appear "dead" as it's not as hydrophobic as it once was, but in reality it's just "clogged" with contamination, grime and road film. So you sometimes need to use acidic pH shampoos (like CarPro Descale) to remove mineral deposits, and alkaline pH snow foams (like Bilt Hamber Touch-Less or CarPro Lift) to eliminate traffic film. That usually helps to restore the coating's properties and rejuvenate it, assuming it's still in good health. See my ultimate spring cleaning tutorial: kzitem.info/news/bejne/0IqXrHmVqWSAdKw

Hi Pan. Thank you for the outstanding content! Two months ago, I clayed, polished and applied Turtle Wax Flex wax to a daily driver. I want to apply a ceramic coat to the car. Do I need to wait until the flex wax wares off, or can I do something now to prepare if for the Avalon coating?
@PanTheOrganizer
2 жыл бұрын
Flex Wax can last 10+ months, so you will wait a long time if you just want it to fade away. The correct way to prep for a coating is going through the wash steps, decontamination, machine polishing (most important step to ensure 100% removal of any previous protection), IPA wipe and then apply the coating. Please have a look at my popular tutorial on how to apply a ceramic coating here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1KeHv4qgsXiifmU

Great video Pan. I have a new SUV that is 2 months old and I have applied Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic Spray coating to it. Now if I want to put armour shield ceramic coating then do I first think about removing the spray coat and if yes then how can I do that? Will the prep shampoo by Avalon King be enough?
@PanTheOrganizer
2 жыл бұрын
The only way to ensure 100% removal of durable ceramic based protection is by machine polishing. Stripping shampoos can only help to break down older weaker waxes or sealants, but not strong enough to strip ceramics. So you will have to go through all the motions like in my AvalonKing application tutorial: wash, iron remover, claybar, machine polishing, IPA wipe and then apply the coating. It's very important for a true coating (the ones in glass bottles) for them to bond directly to virgin clear coat, free of any previous protection. That will ensure a proper bonding and maximum durability and performance.

Make sure it doesn't rain on the coating for 48 hours after the application. After that, you can drive in the rain no problem. Also, don't wash the car for a full 2 weeks after the application. Coatings continue to cure a few weeks after being applied before reaching full gloss and hardness. Apply one layer, wait one hour, apply second layer. Boom. Done.

Ease of use AvalonKing beats any consumer grade coating. Easiest I ever applied. For durability I still need more time to test long term as I have only been testing it for a year. So far so good. But CQuartz is a sure bet for sure. Has always won 1st place for my best consumer grade coating every year in my awards videos. This year AvalonKing ranked second because it’s so easy to apply and priced well especially with my viewer discount code. So overall, both are very good.

Absolutely not. You don't apply ceramic coatings on top of existing waxes or sealants. The coatings need to bond directly to a well prepped and virgin clear coat, hence the prep steps described in my application tutorial for ceramic coatings here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1KeHv4qgsXiifmU

Keep returning to your tutorials and usually coming away learning something new. In this case the use of MDR. Here on Eastern Wa St there is hard water. In the winter I need to use an automatic car wash. =>Q: You used iron remover and MDR. Assume you would do this on the entire car surface? =>Q: Given same circumstances ought I consider performing the same process? After each automatic car wash? Much Thanks!

You don’t use MDR for every wash. Just when needed, meaning if you see mineral deposit accumulation and/or reduction in hydrophobic properties. But yes if you are to use a mineral deposit remover you do the entire vehicle. You can also use a new shampoo called CarPro Descale that removes mineral deposits too. I had my truck cut, buffed, polished and ceramic coated by a detail shop about 2 months ago. This shop was a bit sketchy, I wasn't impressed. The truck seems to bead water pretty good, but I would like to put another coat on myself. What kind of prep do I need to do since it was prepped and coated 2 months ago? I want to buy the Avalon kit and do it myself so I know it is done right. I have used Bead Maker several times on the vehicle. I'm assuming that needs to come off before applying the ceramic coat. Thank you!
@PanTheOrganizer
3 жыл бұрын
It doesn't quite work that way, as you need to know if there will be chemical compatibility between the existing coating and the new coating you want to add. If you wanted to apply a new layer of the SAME coating you currently have, all you would need to do is wash the car, dry it, use a paint prep spray (or IPA) and then apply a fresh layer. And now that you have applied Bead Maker, a new coating wouldn't bond properly as there are too many layers of protection on your paint. The only way to start fresh is to wash, decon, machine polish (that's the only way to ensure 100% removal of your existing protection), IPA wipe and then start with a new coating. But if you had your coating applied by a professional, it usual comes with a warranty. You should go to that shop and have them address what ever issues you had. Typically, coating jobs are over $1000 so you should get your money's worth.

@PanTheOrganizer

I always follow the instructions for each product I use. So yes in this case, 48 hours. If the customer needs his vehicle back after 24 hours, he needs to make sure it doesn't get exposed to water or rain for the next 24 hours. The responsibility will be on him at that point.
