Great breakdown David! I love the way the song starts slow and then builds to the heavy climax at the end. I believe Matt called this their Stairway to Heaven.

This track along with This Means War are the most Metallica sounding songs they’ve written

Most of this song doesn’t sound like Metallica, only part of it does like the last 1/4 when he mentioned Metallica. This means war is straight Metallica tho

@@puppetmaster8551 it very much follows the standard Metallica Ballad formula but that’s also how power ballads are written.

I love the build to the end of the song, that’s why I love it. Would love to hear Metallica and A7X play this live together, or even a mashup with this song and a Metallica song!

I’m with you on the Metallica thing. When you mentioned that, I could totally hear James there also with how he was singing and his accent. Nothing I would change about this song. Loved the slow intro and then the switch ups and buildup throughout. If I ever get to see them live that would be a great one to close with. Good stuff

Totally agree with your takes and score on Buried Alive. I had it at an 8.9 myself but I’m a bit of a Nightmare fan. It’s a great song but it’s not even close to the best one on the record (that would easily be Save Me imo). Fiction is also personally important to me because it was kinda like Jimmy’s goodbye to the fans. Anyway, totally agree with just about everything you said. Thanks!

I've been reacting to your Tool videos and oh man this is super weird (in a good way) to watch. I'm so used to see you getting confused by their time signatures (as you should). Keep it up David! I am quite curious how would you react to their new album, that's quite the ride, if you haven't done The Stage album, you should do that before approaching their new album. All the best to you my dude!

Hey David! This whole song is like a Metallica tribute to me. If you think about it the opening has an almost Unforgiven type feel, then in the middle of the song where it transitions from soft into the double time and solos reminds me of Fade To Black

Metallica is one of A7X’s biggest influences together with Guns N Roses, Pantera and Iron Maiden and this whole album is pretty much a homage to their idols. It’s even in the name - “Hail to the king”. Try listening to Coming Home from the same album. Unmistakably an Iron Maiden song straight up

YEEES omg always thought the last part sounded the same as another band and Metallica was it! Thanks:) I REALLY like the chorus with the triplets on ”seems I’ve been buried alive” and then going double time😍

Yes, this song definitely has Metallica written all over it and I see what you mean about the Master of Puppets part. The overall song structure reminds me a lot of One as well, which is probably why it is my favorite song from them lol. I agree that they have more impressive songs but I absolutely love the feel of this song, the guitar tone, and M. Shadows vocal delivery. I hope you and Mrs. Heretic had a great time at the Skillet show! John Cooper and Jen Ledger are 2 of my favorite people in music and after The Warning, who I met on the Mayday tour, they are the other rock stars I would love to meet some day.

Man, you hear a little down picking and then suddenly "this is so Metallica"> You need to brush on both your knowledge on Metallica's music and of the music of A7X. This is nothing like a Metallica song.
