I hope all of these Silver Age Avengers books get reprinted at some point. I have all the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Amazing Spider-Man stuff, I just need The Avengers and I’ll be happy! Thanks for the fantastic review as always!

I started reading AVENGERS late 1960's. The only artist for me was John Buscema. And whenever I bought issue I was always upset when there was another artist.

Didn't know it's their anniversary soon. I've been wondering when the collected editions dept. would turn their attention back towards this series. Reprints would be nice. Another volume would be nice also.

Yeah it'd be ideal if they could reprint these OOP volumes and also do a Vol 5

Good review, as always! Some really good issues in there. Vision was always my favorite Avenger growing up. As for the cover, I'm not a fan of Alex Ross' work. It's not _bad_ art by any means, but it never really speaks to me. Maybe it's the colors/coloring; I find them dull and uninspiring. I dunno. Anyone else agree?

I actually do get what you mean about Ross' art because for a while I wasn't a fan but ultimately it grew on me and now there's a lot of it that I like. That said, there are still certain covers of his that I don't really like, such as his variants for the X-Men and Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol 1s

Even though I think it's hard to deal with Don Heck as the artist half the time, the content is worth seeing John Buscema's work. Unfortunately, I think Vince Colletta really flattened John's work to a degree when he inked it. George Tuska and George Klein seemed passable over John's pencils I guess. However, it's nice to see some gems like issue 49 when John inked himself, and there is a stark contrast in the depth provided. Hopefully you'll find time to do volume 3. I believe it stops at the Kree/Skull War, which is a nice ending point before volume 4. Long live Roy Thomas.

I'll definitely get to covering both Volume 3 and 4, the Kree/Skrull War is actually in the beginning of Volume 4, 3 stops just before it, they're both great volumes though! Thanks for watching!

The Epic Collection suits me fine. Hardbound is a bit much, literally.

The Epic Collections are a great alternative to omnibuses for anyone not into hardcovers! It's cool that Marvel release so much material in both formats

and makes it somewhat affordable. I can't speak for the secondary market. Too easy to get roped into the new cover art (Avengers w/ King Size number 2)@@TheComicBookTrove
