Whenever you see old PTX live videos, you will likely notice that Avi had a very hard time NOT moving to the music. It is a treat to see him feeling the music in his movements again. Really enjoyed this reaction. I second the opinion that you should go see him live if you get the chance. edited to add that, yes, I hear the organ, and I do wish it was a little more prominent at times. I really love his 70s vibe in this!

I could hear the organ even without headphones! It was great to see Avi dancing again. I can't wait to see him in the UK - tickets are on sale from Tuesday.

I thought I heard the slapback, but my brain said it was a vibrato. Now I'll be able to call it the right name. 😊 This is the coolest song Avi has done! I heard the vocals.

The first time I heard this, my immediate reaction was “quintessential Southern Rock” and you are the first I’ve heard to say anything about it. Thanks, Jeremy and Jillian!
Love y’all’s reaction!! Yes, I picked up the organ on the very first listen, and it’s one of my favorite parts of the song! It doesn’t sound faint to me, though. Can’t wait to see Avi in his upcoming tour…I highly recommend y’all go…he’s even better live!!!

Here's what Avi has said about "Feel Alright" -- “This song is one of the grooviest songs I’ve ever written. Out the gate the guitar lick and sparse drums gets your head bobbing and toe tapping. I really wanted this tune to get people moving. I’ve written many songs about being down and out, this song is a triumph of those times and a call to arms for anyone who is struggling to not let things get them down. I hope this song inspires people to not let the darkness and seriousness of everyday life get to them. Brush it off. Loosen up. Feel alright.”

What a fun reaction! I love a groovy, bassy Avi! I believe he co-produced this with his longtime sound engineer. The whole EP comes out April 12th, and he is touring in May and June in the US. The dates are up on his socials. I have noticed that Avi always builds the layers and instrumentation throughout the song. So the organ is faint and then becomes prominent at the end. I believe the groove and psychedelic effects are a throwback to 60s and 70s rock . And finally I love a dancing Avi! Cheers!

It sounded like there was a trio of voices in the background in that one place. Avi seems so somber in a lot of his songs, but he kicked it up a notch. Thanks for doing this. It’s the first time I’ve been able to hear the entire song! And I did hear the organ too, so the Beats aren’t as good as Bose, but I totally destroyed the cover and foam by wearing them while working outside in the Florida heat! ❤ Cyd

Ack y'all are teaching us things again. Slapback vs. double and etc. etc. Super interesting, so thanks for talking about this at length. Loved you going back and explaining it. But I do have to admit, at first I thought you said Snapback and I was thinking about the hat lol. OOOOPs. I haven't heard this song before. My take: Avi's voice is both ominous and angelic at the same time. For example, I'm thinking this whole time as I'm watching this whether he is the angel of heaven or hell (if one is religious) because he certainly fits in in both places. Also, I heard the organ, but I just thought of it as an artistic choice. I don't necessarily think the organ screams southern rock to me. I'm a fan of the old Hammond B3 organ in rock music, Rick Wakeman of Yes especially or Phish's Paige McConnell with his more jazzy/jam stuff. Hard to say, but I still liked the way it sounded. Sometimes Avi's artistic choices seem very random to me like he's still trying to find himself, but maybe that is actually him - like the searching for himself is part of the beauty of his music. Oh, I'm going off on tangents again. Great reaction either way. I love how you get into the nitty-gritty of things.

Other people have mentioned that Avi's hand movements are reminiscent of those of Jim Morrison of The Doors. I think the organ is reminiscent of their sound too.

@@shirleymoffat3338 you are absolutely correct about the organ!!!! Thank you! I hadn't thought of that, but now that you say it, it's like a lightbulb came on. First time my older brother taught me to play the keyboard part in "Light My Fire," I really thought I was something pretty special lol (I was a young kiddo, don't judge) ..... but I also remember thinking back then how sad it was that I didn't have that organ to really replicate what I wanted it to sound like. Thanks for saying this.

I think his hand movements are a form of tai chi / Qigong / meditation movement. Not 100% on that though.

Avi kaplan is really incredibly good, not just the composition and sound design. also the products page how it was recorded and mixed beforehand! I loved.. World class quality..👌 this stuff sounds incredibly good!❤️ She who mixed it is an incredibly good sound engineer, by Avi Kaplan!🤗👍 I think that the voice was doubled, then lowered by 1 octave and then added distortion and mixed into the original voice. This is how you get the low end of this voice so defined.😉 and Jeremy, I think we still know each other from the time you were in Switzerland!😉

MICHI!!! What is up my brother?! So good to hear from you! Wow, what an interesting way for him to mix that voice, if that's how it was done! It's crazy to think that Avi would need to pitch anything down, instead of just sing that low. lol. But that would be a pretty cool effect. Hell yeah man. So happy to see you over here! How's things been going? Next time we come to Switzerland, we'll have to see each other! We Saw Claudia, Grazi, and Giovi. We had a lot of fun!

My 2nd time listening -- Not sure I heard organ. I did hear the bvs, esp when the main dropped (when yall paused and commented), the softer came with at least 3 verbal and 3 lower tones... but all vocal none-the-less. I'll stop ... don't wanna overwork my thought and loose where I am. Be Safe
