M Versmekes very true. You can see in the documentary he kept saying he is tired. Of that he didn’t want to do this anymore. And they had all these bookings and events lined up for him. I also experience this so often. Telling my boss, company doctor and I don’t who else that things were not going well. That I lost my appetite, when I slept, my hands balled up in fists. And they were cramped up in the morning. I had trouble sleeping. Cried a lot, always tired and I missed a few red lights.... I saw them, but I didn’t respond to them. One was for a train, it was a good thing the beams (I don’t know what they are called.) came down and I stopped. Later at my family doctor I was diagnosed with a burnout and depression. They put me on antidepressants immediately and made an new appointment to check up. When I told my boss, nothing changed...they even gave me more work...

You don't need a mental health professional to get well. You just need to work on your mentality and get help from either yourself or if you do not have the mental fortitude to do that, from the other close people around you.

@@thedave8097 "You just need to"...Right here is the stigma, when someone says "You just have to..". Like it's that simple and only a matter of will, and "getting your act together"... Nobody would say to a person who has diabetes, "Oh, just get on with your life, never mind the insulin". Most mental illnesses stem from a chemical imbalance in the brain, and there are many other factors (like trauma, or childhood events) that may lead to a mental illness.. Just because it is invisible, not a physical illness, doesn't make it less of an illness. I know I'm gonna have to live with my disorder for the rest of my life, it is beyond my power to just get rid of it. It is incredibly exhausting tbh. People don't stay sick because they're lazy or happy in their misery. This thing is simply bigger than them.

Avicii died on my 16th birthday. I remember that Friday I was feeling ok. I got home and found out and I started crying I also remembered that it was not only my birthday but my fraternal twin sister, she passed away a couple weeks after we were born. Wake me up has always had a special place in my heart. I always listen to it whenever I feel like giving up. Avicii was such a amazing dj, I really love his music. Sky full of stars was also written by him and that song has always reminded me of my sister, I also suffer from depression I'm getting help but everyday it feels more and more heavier. It breaks my heart that Avicii took his own life but I understand him. I once attempted to as well but had it not been for my mom knocking on my door who knows if I would still be here. I'm glad more people are talking about mental health. We're not crazy, we're humans, we shouldn't be ashamed for living, our illness(es)there's nothing wrong with going to therapy or anything, stop shaming us. Please be patient with us, we're trying our best. RIP Avicii.

So their focus for him was on stress and emotional "management" instead of giving him a legit break to help him with the trauma and stress he was going through. Avicii said his dad cried when he found out how many shows he had done that year bc they were running him into the ground. Absolutely disgusting what they did to him and how they took 100% advantage of him knowing he needed real time off, not "management skills."

I’m better now and happier than I’ve ever been, at university studying law. I wish I could have told him it would get better and to hold on. I wish I could have given Tim a hug. As long as the treatment is as dangerous as the disease, no one will get help. One week ago, as a veteran, I called a veteran support line to tell them I wasn't doing so well. They called the police and had me hauled ignominiously, in Chains, from my office to the hospital. Only by the grace of God, did I not lose my job and my mate means to sustain myself. I was broken and humiliated. Far more than I was before I had called. As long as people are going to imprison you, detain you, and ruin your life, there is absolutely no reason to call for help, and no reason to get help if all they're going to do is hurt you even more.

@@Believer-jb7qq I am so sorry that you had to deal with that, and that is exactly what I am talking about. Why should people get help, when the cure is just as dangerous and just as humiliating as the disease itself. There are many people who live with Suicidal Thoughts because the other option is to be committed sometimes against your will. To be carted away the by the police or an ambulance or a social worker and to have no choice. And then to be treated like a criminal, where they take your shoes and your belt in your phone and you have to sit somewhere in a cold dark cell in an ER. No, I don't mean a regular hospital room, I mean the one that they use for serial killers. It is exactly the same. And that is exactly why these lines are so fake and so dangerous. Because they tell you to get help, but the help is so so horrible if there was a way for people to get actual help, without all those negative consequences than they would!

Being the pharmacology nerd I've been since the age of 9 or 10 or so, I have a suspicion his suicidal thoughts were "helped along" by some of the meds he received. I recall him mentioning Gabapentin as a tough, heavy drug to deal with. I think Ian from Joy Division was also on Gabapentin. And he committed suicide too. I've also discussed Gabapentin with two psychiatrists (for my own needs, at some point) and they were both like "noooooo, no no no... Gabapentin is to be avoided - it's really heavy artillery..." There are also SSRI's that come with a black label warning, and similar warnings (including suicidal ideation risk). I also have a feeling he felt lonely. And that he felt he'd lived life so much to the max already, that most of what was left seemed dull. Especially if he was on pharmaceutical drugs that dulled his mind and emotions. NOTE: the above is NOT to say psych. drugs are bad. There's GREAT help in them. I've experienced that myself, and for family and friends. It's just super important to be careful and attentive as to side-effects such as suicidal thoughts.

Impressive how Mr. Bergling said he wants Tim remembered as a good person. The fame & money is irrelevant compared to Tim's value as a human being. Suicide is a profound tragedy. I'm too familiar with suicide as a mental health provider. Suicide in not a cry for attention. It's not a selfish "choice". It is a storm of pain in the mind. Similar to a high fever. If we stop judging & blaming, more people will feel comfortable talking about this. There is help for suicidality, but society blocks that by the stigma. Well done Mr. Bergling.

ive troubled with depression and anxiety my whole life, i can tell you that there is no 'cure', it's always there. when i went to the therapist they just tell you things you already know, give you some medication and point you towards some websites. the medication is good but after a while you just feel numb. i feel like once you are depressed and severely anxious it's a bit like cancer in the way that it never fully disappears, and can reappear even when you least expect it.

FergusQ I can totally relate and agree...My depression is like a never-ending roller coaster. To sum up my story, as a little girl I was sexually molested, and it took me almost 11 years to open up and talk about it. Despite those efforts, I still think about it from time-to-time and that’s where the depressive cycle repeats itself :/ Although I must say, even though I still think about my past, I don’t dwell on it as much as before. Meaning before I was in like a really DEEP depression. Today I am in a much stronger, healthier place. So, I guess my point is, yeah it’ll always be there, but things CAN get better. All in all, I firmly believe that no one else can help you, but you...Think about it, there’s only so much another person can do. Yes. There are medications, advice etc. but in the end it’s up to YOU to better yourself and TRY to get out of that dark hole. Had I not opened up or talked about it, I’d still be battling that “deep depression”.

This is bad but I had absolutely no idea Avicci was dead.. poor guy. Mental health is a serious issue and I think it is amazing what his parents are doing, as well Chester Benningtons wife Talinda.

Avicii was my childhood. When he died, it hit me hard. I started listening to him when "Wake Me Up" and "The Nights" were at their most popular. 😔

Tim's father said he was recovering and improving his health and his suicide was a shock for all of us. It means he was definitely acting being happy. He wasn't recovering at all and his team members must've had been forcing him like everyday for gigs. So he choose the other way around to escape from this all.

Frequent lack of sleep. frequent travels, time change, noise at concerts, bright, sharp, flashing lights, all this destroys the body, the nervous system, the eyes. Bad food, sweet drinks too.

Casie Silverman lol calm down now.. I wrote it as a joke because you had to mention alcohol and drugs in your comment and not just that you didn’t know. Because everyone always assumes it’s about alcohol and drugs when an artist dies. I think you’re the one who needs a chill pill my friend.

i don't want to think about suicide, I want to live. I love my family to bits. but one who has OCD it's difficult not to. this thing doesn't let you live. I hope I can hang in there enough until I die a natural death
