Curious to know what your mordant was I'm getting ready to dye some yarn with the pits & I'm not sure the best natural mordant to use ☺ that sweater looks gorgeous btw 🥰 I'm actually working on a lot of hats, mittens & socks right now 😊 also trying to finish my hubby's blanket by Christmas 😋

That is so exciting! Happy you are trying this out for yourself. So, I didn't use a mordant. Avocados have tannin in the pits, which acts as a natural mordant. When I washed the fiber after the dye bath, some dye released, but it was very faint. As you can see in the video, the colors are pretty dark. But I will have to check the colors over time to determine how colorfast it is to only use the pits as a mordant. You can get dark, rich colors by heating the pits for a long time. If you want to use a mordant, I have seen some people use aluminum sulfate or soda ash. Sorry for the long answer :) And thank you so much! It's been a pain for me to finish, but I am determined! I hope I can get the neckline to look the way I want. And all of those sound like such fun projects. The smaller projects are probably a fun change from working on a blanket. You can do it, you still have plenty of time!
