There's a silver lever on the back side of the engine. There's a sticker just above it indicating "increased and decreased throttle position. Watch that it properly returns all the way back to the idle position when the throttle is released. Mine is sticking a bit and causes the pinging. When I push it all the way to idle, it stops the pinging. I'll have to investigate further on a fix. I didn't see a return spring to keep tension on it, at least not one strong enough to ensure it works properly. Maybe some lubrication would help.

Hey Sandy! I appreciate you taking the little topics that most people don’t tend to think of / consider and make a whole video about it! Nicely done! Yes totally agree with all your points! Also a note to (kinda back to another comment is another video) is making sure when hitting the throttle to go to 0-100 that there is minimal lag time for the engine to get the whole unit spooled up. The quicker the engine and clutch can get the unit spooled up, the less work for the clutch. Anyways Sandy, thanks for having us all over for a quick visit! It was nice to stop by! Your channel is awesome! Cheers buddy! Andrew from NB :)

Like I said in a previous comment I did my clutch in by cutting big hard wood logs trying to go to fast and almost stalling my mill but you are right about the idle my kids messes around with go cart and the clutch on them is the same way and while reading the comments one person mention the altitude and that is also true and the time of the year also make a difference but for what i did to my clutch is a lesson learn to try to go to fast on logs that barely fits on your machine specially hard wood have a nice day every one

I'm a new sawmill owner so good info. Not hearing any pinging on my sawmill but my chainsaws been doing that so I'll see if it will go away at a lower idle. It's had quite a lot of use so maybe it's new clutch time.
@dylangrant7799
3 жыл бұрын
If adjusting the idle down doesn’t fix it, try replacing the clutch springs before the whole clutch. If the clutch is worn out you won’t be cutting much, the chain will stop spinning with the engine at full rpms. I had one break on me, not a pinging sound just the chain spinning at even low rpms.

On the VALLEE SAWMILL they don’t have clutch, to engage the blade is by banding the strap that drive the saw blade , that is motor that is mounted on a tube that slide , so you have a lever to slide the motor that tight the strap and it also give some gas , you have some adjustments on both , in 6 years I never had to adjust that , but I adjusted the top speed of my engine to turn a bit faster .

This is true for any centrifugal clutch driven machine such as chainsaws, go-karts and others. If you hear that ping of the clutch shoe hitting the drum it is either the idle too high or weak clutch springs.

Thank you for these videos. It is so helpfull. I set up my HM126 last saturday and sawed a few boards and i am HOOKED. I have watched every single one of your videos and having the knowledge of the exact mill going in was priceless. That being said, I went through my initial break in of the belts, running the blade dry. I then added some lubricant, and on my first cut.....BANG!!!! Blade jumped, hit the little metal guard to keep you from hitting the stops. Demolished the bade and cut up the drive belt. I had just watched your pine sol video so i knew the problem was to much lubricant. I was able to get everything back in order. Good thing i ordered spare parts and blades! So is your lubricant set up as a drip or a steady stream? It came from the factory as a steady stream. What would be the risk of running it on the dryer side instead of the wetter side? It was a pretty major failure that had me down for over an hour. Thank you sandy
@sawingwithsandy
3 жыл бұрын
I find I sometimes don’t use much lubricant at all. This is mostly when cutting in the winter though. I have a very light stream coming out most of the time. I may end up going back to soap and water only since the pine sol is so slippery and because I’ve never had a blade jump off with just soap and water no matter how much I used for lubricant. Hope that helps

Several folks have commented that my idle is too high because they hear the pings in my videos. I can't hear it when using earplugs or ear muffs and can just barely hear it with uncovered ears when I'm listening for it. Can't hear it when editing, either. Almost deaf in that frequency band, I guess. Too much time around jet engines. Watched this video again because I couldn't remember where the idle screw is. Thanks.

I’m not too concerned about the actual rpm number as long as it’s low enough that the clutch isn’t engaging at idle speed and the engine runs well. I think A tachometer would be helpful for sure but unfortunately I don’t own one.
