The guy who was showing you around tried to bargain with the barber on the price to be ksh. 200 (2 dollars) claiming that you are 'his person' which in Swahili is 'mtu wangu' because you chew khat together; but the barber did not accept. The barber instead charged you ksh. 500 (5 dollars) which in Kenya we say, 'umegongwa' (overcharged). BTW, that's my hometown.

I have become quite intrigued, more so lately, than before with your travels and how you go about carrying the camera and managing to document your experiences as well as any other channels that do similar productions. On a slightly different note, I find your personality and perspectives very well articulated. I believe if I were to change my way of life then I could see myself in you a bit. When I was clean and sober, in recovery, I would keep my haircut and dress up, and my love for beautiful beaches, jungles, and foreign things(woman included, coca possibly, lol, cigars, foods) to be similar in taste. Funny too how much I appreciate a quality set of clippers and your Manscape ads actually make me assured you wouldn't promote a product you don't use yourself. Thanks too for sharing your personal struggles with depression on a separate video. That really shows that even though your not too afraid to visit dangerous places and come off as a tough guy sometimes, you also show that you have same struggles as many men and woman worldwide and you view yourself as an equal everywhere you go. Appreciate the honesty in your views and street smart sense when people are not what they appear sometimes and being careful of scammers, thieves, criminals, and cons. Great job.

Though being warned by locals from the hood, I felt safe in Old Town and for many years used to take shortcuts passing through (well, at daytime). And I must admit, guns haven't been on my radar at all in Mombasa. Good to see that Kurt can even film there today without getting beaten up. Instant classic! Always a good episode when you hit all the marks; ghetto, haircut, beach, meal, taxi. Loved seeing the Old Town. Reminds me almost of an old Colonial settlement in the Caribbean or something.

I'm on with The Army. Joined today. Catching up on shows I haven't seen or don't / didn't remember seeing so late at night ...when I often watch after work. I've learned so much and probably too old to travel now'days. Kurt inspires so much of my curiosity and commitment to learning local culture through cuisine especially and more. I'm thankful. That's the only thing I hate about going to other countries is the locals bothering you and trying to sell you something the whole time when your just trying to look around and relax it's your vacation/holiday

I dont think they are safe bro, it's just the vibes he puts out. He's really good at disengaging aggro people and turning them into friendly. That takes skill for sure, most people would coward and panic or even get aggressive, he just continues to stay calm while holding his ground firmly.

This guy showing the real Kenya, Africa. Actual houses, even if they are not in brand new condition, beaches, tropical scenery, buildings. Not only huts and slums like Indigo Traveller. Yes those exist, they exist just like in every country even in European country like Romania and in other countries Brazil, India there are slums. But there needs to be a balance. This is an honest video which I’m sure will make people want to visit our beautiful continent. Good job Kurt keep it up!

Stop whining. This guy and followers are very sus, they come across as mostly alt right who thinks Africa is all backward. Plus watch Indigo Traveler's vlog in Kenya. He liked it, said it was different, and he thoroughly loved it. For South Sudan and Northern Nigeria, shit holes, and they're depicted as such. And he doesn't vlogs, he does something similar to documentaries.

I agree. Bad areas exist in any country. Even go to America you see homeless and poo in cities. Doesn't mean whole country is bad or people are bad.

I hope he doesn't inspire people to visit dangerous areas. Kurt may be fine but not everyone will have the same experiences. These things are not a joke - you will be robbed, assault or outright killed if you're unlucky.

I visited Mombasa in 2019 and found the people to be warm, friendly and of course they do business and negotiate. The city is so humble and the roads are awful and there is so much trash everywhere I feel bad for the people and what they put up with. I had the annoyance of “ Beach boys “ harassing me for money and trying to con me and bug me everyday when I went on the beach but it didn’t stop me from having a wonderful time. I love Kenya and Mombasa :)
