Excellent video. I now have the courage to stop procrastining and now install my NCE power cab which has been laying in its' box for over 6 years. Thanks

You made me realize, that I made one simple mistake. I used the coiled wire on the controller, instead of the flat wire. The power panel would not light up, but the controller received power, and had dead tracks. Fixed that, now have new locos running and breaking in. Thank you sir!

I like curly cables, so I thought it was a shame the flat one is the one needed for the powercab.

Hi John! Thanks for these videos about the NCE Power Cab. I’ve just bought one and the instruction manual is very confusing. Fortunately I Found your KZitem channel which makes using the Power Cab so much easier. Many thanks! Another John.

A great introduction to the NCE Power Cab. I have been using this system as a step on from a Bachmann EZ Command. It took me a while to work out the light and conection problem a few years ago, so this would have been useful about 5 years ago.

The thing I like about the PowerCab is that it can be easily expanded.

Thanks for the video, quite helpful and I do believe NCE Power cab is the way to go. Reasonable priced and extremely expandable if so desired. For the time being I shall have to stick with the Bachmann command controller, not ideal but it does what I need for the time being. I'm saving for the NCE, so keep the videos coming!

If you are looking for points motors would recommend dcc concept motors only need 3 wires to track.

The Bachmann EZ Command is pretty good if you bought it with a DCC set. At that point it is a very good value. I started out with an NCE powercab and still use it sometimes.

I liked your video; some good basic stuff for us newbies. Any particular reason for NCE vs. Digitrax?

More just the ergonomics as much as the features. Plus the price was better.

NCE says just install the power panel upside down if you want the red led at the top.

Hi John, I've just tried setting mine up today. Think it is faulty or I've done something wrong. Uses a peice of track like you but mine was soldered to the middle. Train won't move and think track is dead. Also when I turned it on the red led light has not been on st all, so not sure if I have faulty one or not.. hope you can help. Thanks David

If the light is not coming on on the panel, then there is something wrong - make sure you've plugged it into the correct socket, using the correct cable. If you have, and there is power to the board, then you may have a faulty unit.

No motion or sound. What if it says “ Main off Cannot read CV” What should I try next?
@MessingaboutwithModels
2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for not replying sooner. If it cant read the CVs, it usually means theres a break in the conection somewhere - either to the track, or a lose wire in the loco. Maybe the Decoder isnt seated properly.

Thanks for the video. Any idea how this compares with the MRC Prodigy Express or Piko SmartControl Light, which all seem similar in features and price?
@MessingaboutwithModels

Afraid not, as I havnt owned those. I have used the Prodigy, but just felt the handset didnt fit right in my hand. I'd always recommend testing out controllers before you use them - I like the fact that the PowerCab can be used one handed.

Does this work with a Bachmann G scale?
@MessingaboutwithModels
Жыл бұрын
I dont see why not - however a G Scale train will probably use more current than a OO or HO scale loco, so you might only be able to control one or two.
