Can we say that she’s THE underrated vocalist of her generation? Her belting technique is amazing, she always displayed great control over her lows despite being a soprano, she mastered her vocal breaks and yodels from early on being part of her signature style of singing. Also her agility and overall technique got so much better these days. SHE. DESERVES. RESPECT.

I wouldn’t be who I am today without Avril’s music. Back in 2002, I remember singing along to “Complicated” at six years old on a long car ride it or state, and then blasting her chart-topping hits from The Best Damn Thing era on my MP3 player nonstop between 2007 and early 2008. I soon rediscovered the smash hits of her debut album in the early months of 2008, and “I’m With You” is still the number one song that gets me through a dark phase of life, nearly 20 years after its release. I will never forget the day I first heard “Smile” in 2011 after a tumultuous freshman year of high school, and how it’s explosive chorus lifted me beyond the adversity I had been through for so many years. In 2013, she dropped her self-titled album, and I fell in love with every release, whether it was a mainstream track or promotional single; she was always the master of a perfect chorus and relatable lyrics. Five years later, she released “Head Above Water” that got me through a horrible semester of college, despite the fact that I’m an atheist; months later, when I suffered the biggest panic attack of my life, “It was in Me” pushed me through the point where I’d lost all hope. I am proud to say Avril Lavigne has been my lifeline throughout the past two decades of my life. I don’t know where I’d be without her brilliant songwriting and vocals. I owe my life to her.

I was wondering if i should do a video like that, but so glad you did! She is the best! I guess she hasn't show her full singing range yet (I've detected D3-G#5-F#6) but she probably has more in store, and I really hope she explores that in the future... I mean, she's come to a point in her career for that. And we can see she's not shown it all for us because she has better range and the same voice as early 2000s to these days... this kind of conservation is only found when you have GREAT (hers is outstanding, almost perfect) technique and don't overuse your voice. The "vocal cracks" you noted on the video are her yodelling ability

PS: the G#5 is in the background of Alone and the F#6 at the end of the video "Jing'An Temple & Shanghai Performance" for WTH.TV in her channel... she does an ascendent scale of head voice that peaks in that note. + there is a G5 in the Kuala Lampur performance of IAGWIW in 2011 and it's DOPE.

Never really paid attention to Avril tbh. This video popped in my recommended after listening to Girlfriend (iconic single, lol) and she really surprised me this entire video. Not gonna lie I never thought of her as a legit vocalist but her belts are so loud and clear, phrased, and healthy. Also her voice is chestier/lower than I thought it'd be? I mean shes an obvious soprano with a fairly high tessitura but her voice definitely has some chestiness to it. Great vid, even greater singer 😍

Avril Lavigne is a great singer, especially in belting. She sings much better than certain singers out there who are called "queens of the technique" or "queen of the voice". Her belting is open, oral and with a lot of chest (more technically from the thyroarytenoid muscle), providing a sound close to the spoken voice, more natural and pleasant. Because of this, despite having a high and young voice, she manages to stand out, even in the middle belting region. I disagree with you when talking about the video that she forces above D5. There is clearly no effort at all, not even in F#5. She probably has a very high vocal tessitura, but that is not fully explored. Be careful with these "" resonance "", "" support "" videos made by 15 year olds who think they're voice experts lol. They have multiplied in recent years, it is a shame. I wonder if she sang opera, what subclassification she would have under the fach system. It is definitely more acute than a full lyrical soprano. Perhaps it would be a light lyric, lyrical-leggero or leggero. I can feel something of leggero in it. But, just guesses, she is a popular singer. Finally, she has already demonstrated a good vocal range. I don't think a singer is better off simply because he has extremely high notes like A5 or Bb5. These notes, when produced in belting, do not sound beautiful, they are not pleasant, they are far removed from the spoken voice, it looks like a meowing cat - rare are the exceptions. It only serves for intrigue by divas fans to see who reaches higher tones.
@edgarmarinho6634
3 жыл бұрын
You have said it all She can go up to an A5 or even higher, but she's chosen to keep her limit to where it's still healthy. I've always thought about what would be her fatch on classical music, given her technique (one of the best in popular music, I may say)... I think she's more to a light-lyric soprano because of her angelic yet powerful voice. I can see what you said about her singing with ease the higher notes. I can see it only getting hard for her from G5 on. Check this out: kzitem.info/news/bejne/zKR_vYd5n6B5dYo
