I have never like single compartment packs they make it difficult to organise everything, with multi pockets you can get to a lot of things without having to empty the whole thing. The Shovel/axe holder on the M pack looks useful for a lot of things.

It's Murphy's law that no matter how much you plan your packing, when you need to get something out of a single compartment bag it will be at the bottom.

Now isn't that the truth. So much so that sometimes mission priorities dictate that you just don't bother and do without. If it's in the webbing, it's accessible, not so in the large compartment backpack. The old Berghaus Cyclops two Vulcan 1989 vintage, with those side pockets and bottom entry zipper, changed my way of working forever.

😊. I have always leaned toward a compartmentalize pack. Easier to access specific items than the catch all single compartment units. It seems that whatever I seek is always at the bottom.... It appears to be a nice unit. Very nice! 😀 Best Wishes Lars!

Lars, thank you for telling us about the Soviet Russia website. I'm impressed with their prices, considering the obvious high quality of the items they sell. I ordered a pair of military boots from them on 1 September, and to buy the same item here in America would have likely cost me five times as much money. And the quality would have likely been less for American-made.

The one thing I like the most about the LK35 is the external frame ( I know I am old school). I can take the one compartment bag off the frame and carry other things strapped to the frame. I agree with you Lars the one compartment bag is ok but not great. What might be a good idea is to strap a Paratrooper M Model on the LK35 frame....then we have the best of both worlds.

Lars, Tell me about the old picture at the end ? Love old pictures of the past. I also hope you have a chance to read William Collins book Wilderness Challenge. I hope he sent both, it and Freedom Challenge ? Me and Mrs Castle loved them . The first goes real fast after about the first chapter. Joy, ( Mrs Castle) who is still a deer hunter at 74 and still field dress her deer, since I'm disabled she is the meat winner . Grew up on a farm, milked cows, squirrel hunted alone with .22 rifle, head shooing them with iron sights. It had been a few years since we read the books and she just reread them last week. She said, they were as good as first time or maybe better, this time. I'm no relation and and get nothing for this endorsement :- ) Cheers Lars, from Illinois, state of Chicago and confusion :-(

Mmmmmm no metal frame i wonder what Vyatka hunter would think about it . You should give it the hunterama stability test. Put 20k,s in the pack and run for 50 metres . If the pack wobbles more than your stomach then you give to some one you dont like for a birthday present. I like the LK35 because it dosnt have a lot of pockets and zips , horses for corses I guess. Lars Im starting to think you have been to the huntarama school of hunting.

Not my lk35!!!!! Ok, I know it's got limits. 😎 I saw on the soviet store site the mpl-50 strapped on. Do you have to have the seperate pouch for that? If so, is it the new MOLLE style? Speaking of the Mpl-50, do you carry one or use one? Where I live I don't need an axe much, a machete works most of the year just fine. I have an Mpl-50 and the Cold Steel copy. I really like them. Time to get the bull dozer and scrape off all those stumps and fallen logs on the way to the camp shelter. And if you meet up with that moose again, then time for a little rough-house and see who is the stronger bull !!! Is that hunting stand an abandoned forest ranger fire watch tower ? A great pack to put the john-fire can fire/cool/eating gear kit on the opposite side of the water bottle, and a tiffin bento box in the center pocket holding all the food eats. You are so vastly lucky, my go-to hardware store for all my metal gear items - just went out of business - so I can't get anymore 3 inch metal O rings - not even online !!! So the john-trammel and other O ring designs are all historical treasures.
