Do you guys always use such lite braid for your bottom fishing. 10Lbs seems like it wouldn't be enough if you find a decent striper
@JohnSkinnerFishing

It's key to this fishing to reduce drag in the water and get to the bottom with minimal weight. 10# can handle a big striper with the drag set properly.

Hi John, Sorry to hear about your Florida place. I winter on the North side of Charlotte Harbor, and followed your videos in SWFL. We were fortunate there, lost the cage but everything else pretty good, including the boat. Cleaned up a couple weeks ago, I think about the same time you went down. Heading back for the winter first week of November. My boat will always have an open spot for you. Safe travels and blessings on your household.

On Saturday I took a spin around Orient Point and traveled about a mile or so West after watching 25 boats chase 2 albies. I threw a one-ounce bucktail with gulp teaser into 18 feet of water maybe 100 feet from shore and caught sea bass after sea bass by slowly jigging the retrieve. Was hoping for a striper or two but no luck. Got a couple of casts off to a pod of albies that surfaced by the boat but the Deadly Dick was ignored. Beauty day on the water.

John, I noticed it looked like you use a swivel for mainline to leader line connection. Along with a shorter leader. Is that an important detail to the snap jigging? I’m never quite sure when to use the extra terminal tackle versus tying everything

Hi John. Im looking to give snap jigging a try soon. Can you use a rod for slow pitch jigging like the Maxel Platinum I have? or what about those tsunami slimwave rods you use to use for blackfishing? One more thing. If you're ever on the lookout for a new spook try out the X-walk topwater lures or KVD megadawg 6"/20z. They cast like a bullet and have fantastic action. Just might need to change the hooks out on the KVD.
