Oh wow! When I started watching this I thought, "OMG, ANOTHER log splitting video? Who wants to sit and watch someone split their stove wood for 20 minutes...again!" Then I laughed because for some reason I find it mesmerizing and thought...well, me, obviously. 😂 And then all of a sudden out came a small package I recognized and there were the gloves we sent! I called Oz to show him too and we had a laugh, LOL. Hope they fit ok. We like those in winter because they're pretty warm, have enought rubber to keep the palms and fingers dry but still let your hands breathe, and they don't restrict movement too much. Hope they did the same for you. What a treat! Carole & Oz from Oregon PS - We sure could us either one of those Eastonmade splitters, though I do like the control of that newest version and the conveyor belt. Currently we have one of those small time electric splitters and it just broke! May be time for an upgrade...

Finally someone made a proper table for logsplitter. Looks good. I have used tractors front loader as a table for heaviest with my cheap horizontal splitter. I bring half load of logs behind it and move them on it. And bring them then right away under shed.

Hi Sandy. I like the "Irish Sounding" music. Cutting to length left you with a bit of insulation from the snow on the ground. I wondered about the lift with all of the weight on it but it looks like you could have nearly doubled that weight. Have good days!

I'm used to processing my firewood in the snow. This winter we have no snow. On the nice days we have mud, which turns into a frozen mess with all the footprints and tire tracks. I've learned to only take my tractor out on the days that the mud is frozen. I've been working on trees that were taken down by the storms last winter. They are already on the ground. I clean off all the limbs, cut the logs to length, and then just leave them there until the ground is snow covered again and I can winch them out with my logging winch. Weather sure can put a crimp in your style! It's like learning how to do things all over again! That splitter you have is a beauty. And I may have to build a log table just like the one you use. I'm careful, but when you're bucking logs on the ground, hitting the ground is almost a sure thing. And you know what that does. I hope March brings us some of the usual snowstorms so I can work in familiar circumstances and manage to keep the wood clean. Muddy or dirty logs are a pain. Thanks for reminding me what it's like to work in the snow!

Howdy Sandy. I fell in love with the Axis when GP first had it on his channel.. The entire concept just makes perfect sense to me.. Standing splitting wood and the big table to simply slide into place and use your foot to activate the wedge.. Andrew really puts a lot of thought into all his equipment in his lineup.. And he does it with pride.. If I had not stopped burning wood I would have definitely tried to get one.. If I had it before I stopped burning wood I probably wouldn’t have stopped… I did have a very nice splitter with a log lift but still had to bed over more. Thanks for sharing. Cheers my friend… PS. We have so much bare ground now and the temperatures are going up and days are getting longer.. The only snowmobiling trails that are still open are the ones in the towns near the border… The have less than 3 feet in the woods and the trails are pretty beat up… They are still grooming.. Ok got to stop rambling.. Hahahahaha

I know a lot of you guys live where it snows a lot and gets very cold. I used to have to do that when I had a regular job and could only cut when I was off. I don't have to do that anymore and don't miss it. I always hated cutting when there was ice on the logs. Now that is firewood. Everyone else on here splits the wood so small for firewood stands. It is more like kindling than firewood. Ice always seemed to dull my saw quickly.

On that splitter, why not have a four-way blade? Or an interchangeable blade, one for double-split and one for four-way split. In fact, I bet a changeable 2/4-way blade could be built for quick changes without having to remove the whole device.

Because the tote is so low to the ground, would it make sense to lower the conveyor? I think it would be less wear on the equipment and in the end less fuel? From 45/50 deg down to 20?30 deg? My mama raised me to be very frugal. My last boss (I'm retired) said no, not frugal - CHEAP! LOL At the 8:16 mark I can see the Chop Shop in the background - great structure!

We went from 65°F on Monday to 8°F on Tuesday with 2" of snow. Oh, and the wind blew with gusts of 60+ mph. I noticed that at the begining you were splitting the rounds into 4 pieces and later you were going to 6 or more. The 4 piece splits looked a little large to me, was there a learning experience, or did you want some big pieces and some smaller pieces? Watching you work in the snow makes me think that you will be building a shed that will allow you to have the log deck and the Axis under a roof next winter. It would keep the logs from freezing to the deck unless you were loading the deck with logs that were already covered in snow. Even if they were covered when you loaded them, it wouldn't be 2 or 3 feet of snow on them. Just a thought, a design that would work best for you wouldn't have to have the logs loaded from the same side that you are unloading from. That might open up some working area for you and a spot for the IBC tote?? Thanks for the video. That Axis sure looks like a winner!!

As I started watching I was thinking, man your leather gloves must be getting soaked then you put different gloves on. Last month I bought these on Amazon>>> [Schwer 2 Pairs Waterproof Winter Work Gloves XXL] They kept my hands dry when getting firewood..... IMO That log deck needs to be doubled in width with a solid head-board, that way long logs can be pushed against head-board, saw cut will always be in the gap and firewood will always be 16" and wood will stay on deck..... The only real plus I see of that splitter is lot less slash, I watched lots of firewood possessors and there's a tremendous amount of slash...... But what you really need as I do, a firewood tumbler, theres nothing like clean firewood. When I bring my firewood in, it's all covered with sawdust and with loose bark, what a mess it makes!!!!!
