My mother was a WASP ferry pilot. She loved the fighters and hated the larger aircraft. She told the aircrew of a B17 at the McChord air show that "flying a B17 was like driving a bus". She flew every aircraft the AAC had during WW2 except for the P-61 and the B29. She even had a couple of Navy dive and torpedo bombers in her log books.

But was she a bus driver? Can I say my peterbuilt drives like a p51? Good for granny no disrespect but if she never drove a bus then how can she honestly say that.

@@frankpepper4797 She grew up on a farm in Oregon. At 12 she and her 13 yr old sister were driving the family's 1 and a half ton Ford flatbed to the coop with the hop harvest. Things were a little different in the 30s.

My Dad was a bombardier on B-17s with the 15th AAF during WWII. I ❤the Forts. They brought him home and they keep his grit and love alive for me every time I see one.

I flew on her about 30 years ago. It was great. Everyone exited the plane smiling.

It's Sentimental Journey. Yankee Lady has red wing tips and horizontal stabilizers. Unfortunately the idiots at Yankee have decided to sell her. Who bought her seems to be a big secret.

Yankee Lady flew over my house last summer and I was lucky to capture a video. Rumor is the buyer is a private collector who lives in California.

Pretty sure that's Yankee Lady. If so, I've flown aboard this plane. A pretty incredible experience. (Nope, it's Sentimental Journey.)

Imagine if you are driving a 1932 auto, on us hwy 80 and this comes barreling out of a confederate airfield at you! Kinda wake you up, eh?
