What happens to the plasma b cells after they secrete antibodies? Do they end up becoming memory b cells?
@fmedtt
5 жыл бұрын
I think plasma cells will die by apoptosis after they produce lots of antibodies to react with the antigens.

In the begining of the video it says “B cells develop from B lymphocytes”. Forgive me if I’m wrong but aren’t they the same thing?

do plasma cells divide? mitosis? whats the difference between plasma cells and B cells?
@mahammedkemal8967
6 жыл бұрын
Well plasma cell is it self a B cell but differentiated to perform a task which is releasing antibodies In other words when it is just a B cell, I know it is a lymphocyte that was never exposed to antigen But when it is plasma cell, it is a B cell that was exposed to antigen and keeps dividing so that when they release their antibodies into the blood stream, the quantity will be enough The proliferation and the differentiation is caused because of the T helper cells Check the Vedic for this point
@fatmafaizal07

Im just so confused, i read that plasma cells do not divide by mitosis hence the hybridoma thing happens, and ive read in other places such as above that plasma cells do divide to produce more antibodies. What do i go with?

@@fatmafaizal07 kzitem.info/news/bejne/1mOFzIGJcox8ZYY Hello I created a fun video about B cells using cute illustration!
@funkyscience

@@fatmafaizal07 Ffrom Janeway's Immunobiology, it said that usually once B cell is activated it multiples in "B cell form". Once it is divided then it will be differentiated into either memory B cell or Plasma cell. I think this is the basic principle behind B cells. But I guess like you said, scientists are still working to find out whether Plasma cells do divide. It is controversial issue that needs to be studied further.
