Nobunaga was not the first person to use a firearm. All the forces that Nobunaga fought against had firearms, and the Ikko sect was defeated by an overwhelming number of guns.

Finally, a samurai represented in all his glory! Not a bunch of crazy people who go around with a garden blade, cutting off other people's heads and their own stomachs. Thanks to the channel's ono, for showing how one of my favorite warrior classes is really badass!

The Portuguese sold them the guns, but apparently not a training session on the proper way to aim down the barrel, lol! I feel like I'd be safe like Tom Cruise down range that the dudes wouldn't hit me like in Last Samurai.

AC1543, matchlock was introduced in Japan. Only after 30yrs from then, huge gun fire battles were occurring across Japan. Technology development is brazing fast.

To be accurate. Most of Japanese clan had matchlock samurai. However the flag in this video belong to Ikki clan which had monk army and very neoconservative. It is weird for them to havw matchlock samurai

Slightly higher firing position for slightly longer range? Either that or purely ceremonial. Or maybe it's a psychological war thing. Perhaps they do the exaggerated movements so you can tell what they're doing from afar, enemies familiar would be like "Oh shit they're about to start shooting us" and freak out. Kind of like if you saw a bunch of archers on a hill all draw back their bow and aim at 45 degree angles, you know what's coming next.

That's the proper stance for O-zutsu or high caliber matchlock musket. Due to larger charge and flash leakage through priming hole, it is unsafe to shoot the musket at eye level. So, proper way to shoot O-zutsu is with the gun at chest level or above the eyes.

this just proven that the concept of the movie "the last samurai" is a lie cause japanese ancient warriors are musketeers, marksmen, and snipers also they are masters even in artillery firing since mid 1500. yet they have their ancient concept of shotguns and bazookas..
Arquebus gunners are typically ashigaru...They are not samurai...in fact are employed by samurai

The Samurai love their guns, its not an ashigaru exclusive weapon when all guns they used are owned by the samurai themselves. They literally have a gun called samurai-zutsu or the "Samurai's gun" as a samurai exclusive weapon. There's the Ban-zutsu, the 30 cal hand cannons that are too unwieldy for conscripts as well as rocket launchers and two manned snipers. There are literally depictions of samurai from the edo period showing them using guns.

The captain (typically a samurai) of an arquebus contingent tended to also be armed with arquebus. Oda Nobunaga's arquebus captain, Hashimoto Ippa, was recorded to have fought with a gun in the Battle of Ukino, 1558.
