Hi Christina, nice to know the face mask mandate had been lifted there. For me, it is still better to have the mask on when seeing people here, just my preference hehehe. Hope the cases here will drop as in US

Honestly, it really depends on the state and town you are in. Personally, as someone who works in the medical field, I still wear mask in indoor settings.

@@user-lu4dc3yv8n we are trying our best to stop the transmission of COVID…….. At least like look after the immune compromised ones, under five who couldn’t get the vaccines and elderlies…… Glad you didn’t have to go to ICU or COVID ward but not everyone as lucky as you.
Ever heard Omnicron mutant BA2??feel safe now in USA?? At least I don't feel safe in Florida! My coworker just got BA2 mutant even she has 3 vaccines /Pfizer!,your freedom, your health, you decide

I miss boylston street, Newbury street, Prudential centre…oh…my old stomping grounds
I live in a suburb of Chicago. No indoor mask mandate anymore. I see some people wearing masks in stores, including me. My mother is 86 and lives with me. We are both fully vaccinated and boosted, but never been infected. I worry about her if she gets Covid because of her age. I will keep my mask on for a bit longer, until Covid is no longer around us?

I don't think the pandemic is completely over yet, as lots of countries are still battling it. I also wish for the pandemic to be over, but still risky for not wearing the mask in the insanity infected situation...

of course, it really depends on where you are. Hard to say it's "over" which it's definitely not yet, however hopefully, eventually, we can find a balance in between, in mandarin so they say " 與病毒共存" I guess the US is trying to open up and adjust to new things, on the contrary though, if cases get back up again the mask mandates here in Boston will come back. Fingers crossed things will get better soon worldwide!

100% agreed. The problem is INDIVIDUALISM. Wearing mask may not be 100% safe from getting the virus but it does provide minimum protection.

@@Samo1228 true! here in the states, there are plenty of people who wear masks in their own correct ways, however as my friend Tim mentioned in the video it hasn’t been doing much here if there’s still no social distancing or limiting capacity in places. Which was also a lesson through omicron 🙏

I've also gotten my 3 shots AND got omicron and recovered, so I feel the same way, not nearly as anxious anymore. I am in Texas as well. Texas handled the pandemic badly, so there were more casualties. I think we're at the point where if somebody is 3 shot done, it's unlikely they'll suffer from serious symptoms or be hospitalized if they do catch covid, at least for now. I know my immunity will be quite strong until a couple more months later, so we'll have to see how things are at that time. One thing to note, though, is ever since I had omicron, I have been having these random, dry coughing at random times in the day, especially at night, which disrupts my sleep. I hope this will go away soon, but it has been almost 2 months and I'm still coughing like that. Fingers crossed. Will definitely get a full body check up when I get to go back to Taiwan again. Been 3 years!

There’s some people who live with Aldo they have to be careful so if we have courtesy and we go out we don’t just represent ourselves , we represent our parents the way how we have raised . Curtesy is part of very important concept in Asian culture . It’s not just about me me me . Before my mother passed away I was worried if I got Covid not because I was worried about myself I was worried about you my mother would get it. Add to my mother passed away I don’t really care if I get it or not I know I won’t die I will experience horrible feelings but I have to think about that I have husband and son and I think about my friend who has elderly parents . I’m in medical field so we do testing every week . I know there are many people in my field don’t do that anymore but we still do this is called courtesy if you do have a courtesy you know what to do is the best for everyone . If you don’t you care about yourself more. And be taught to have a courtesy you actually need to raised by the parents who have a courtesy in order to teach you to be the person who you are now or who you can become. My parents used to tell me if you can’t behave the way I expect you to have , you should change your last name . This is a very much like Chinese parents but it actually represent our culture .

I can't tell you are foreigner if I don't look your face. Your Taiwan accent is very very pure. Awsome!
Yes indeed. A country cannot consider only one factor, so diseases, economy, the law and so what government can or cannot do, and the people's mentality, and what tools you have to modify people's behaviors, all have to be considered.
I think you were lucky to have a light type of covid, and many young people had the same experience. But it would be selfish of us to stop wearing masks because we can still cary it and many people that are important to us would not be so lucky. My grandma is sick right now and I feel very hurt by people saying the pandemic is over. The pandemic will probably be over if everyone stops wearing masks but that is a gov strategy that would just sacrifice many people. On an individual/loved ones level that is not a good strategy.

Surgical masks are actually useful, very useful if you talk about pre-Omicron COVID. Properly wearing the masks is extremely important, e.g. you cannot touch the mask directly because there are bacteria on it. grab the ear ropes instead. You must make sure the mask is well-covering your nose such that when you breathe, the mask's deformation follows. No fogs/ limited fogs in your glasses. etc.
