Your guest missed his analogy. If your goal is to build a line through the country, then one area is missing. You've got eastern, central and pacific time zones. You need mountain. Then you get exactly what the B1G says they want. Kick-offs in every timezone. So B1G's next move is into the mountain timezone. ASU, Zona, Colorado and Utah are all AAU members. My bet is on Utah and Colorado will be taken. As long as they can show they can be competitive in the B1G. Utah has. Colorado needs to.

@@saturdayswarriorbyu Where does the idea that expansion has to be rushed come from? Not the conferences or members. Not the networks either. There is no hurry from the B1G or SEC to expand. All these podcasts and fanbases have really been totally out of touch with this narrative that these conferences have to rush. There are no realistic reason for any such thing. Actually, reality is that both the B1G and SEC have just added teams and have signed mega media deals. If anything, it would have the opposite effect towards expansion. Slow down and focus on what they’ve just done and let things settle a bit with these changes before any more consideration toward expanding again.

@@jansonroberts2616 The obvious concern is the effect from the revenue gap on football. FSU and CLEMSON's value is primarily football, which makes things a bit desperate. Other schools in play have far more diversified value.

Who does academics matter more to? ACC or Big 10? They both have excellent schools, and I think ACC has the slight edge with UVa, Duke, UNC, Georgia Tech and Miami? Big 10 claims academics is important to them, but when push comes to shove would they go for a school who is better known for its football or its academics? Who is left that covers both football and academics? Not basketball and academics, football and academics?

That is the question though, do they still place the same emphasis on academics as they used to? They took Oregon and brought in Nebraska even when their AAU status was in question. So I wonder, but JR says he thinks they do. I guess we'll see.

@@garycolucci9700 LOL... The ACC had a slight lead on the B1G coming into this realignment, which likely was extended as things stand. Moreover, the core B1G schools can't maintain academic metrics given demo trends.

BIG 10 wants ND and will take Stanford with them. They can be forced to join by requiring teams to be conference affiliated for the college football playoffs. Eventually this will happen. Once ND and Stanford are in then I think it's UNC and UVA. I've heard the SEC wants them too. Who knows? With the political tie-ins with NC State and VATech and the addition of Duke for basketball no one really knows where this will end. I personally don't think the networks will be able to pay out what they have agreed to going forward with streaming and the aging population. Not enough $$$ our there to support these big money deals. WIll the public be willing to pay the streaming costs required to pay these high payouts to the schools? We'll see.

@@tarheel7406 Highly sought? Have you seen their metrics? Look at the last five non-Covid years averages for attendance and you will see that UNC would be second to last in the SEC, only ahead of Vandy, and fifth from last in attendance in the B1G. Look at TV viewership averages for the last five non-Covid years and we see UNC would be second to last in TV viewership, trailing only Vandy, and would be sixth from the bottom in the B1G, were they to join there. There are more metrics... I could go on. In every metric, save for academics, UNC is found to be wanting as an SEC/B1G conference member . They report negative operating margin, their sports endowment and NIL dollars are low by the standards of SEC/B1G, etc. Why would the SEC, or the B1G, want to take on a team the will COST them money? UNC may bring academic prestige, but is that enough? I would think not....
