Have this same smoker. Didn’t expect much but was blown away by how well this cheap little leaky smoker performed.

I use foil under the meat to catch the grease. Then remove the foil/grease all together. It works for me. I bought this same smoker on offer up for $70, works great!

Putting foil over the grease tray affects your overall temperature and the foil can catch fire. I just cut up an old plastic credit card to scrap my tray after smoking

I've had it off for awhile. I found i never needed it. I took it off when i assembled it
