@@jacquelineking5783 You mistake me. I was never so much indignant as incredulous. My husband and I were watching together, and we both started poking fun because we at first assumed it was from an earlier era. It's exactly what one would expect from the sort of Fifties short that gets riffed on MST3K or the like. Funny in its obvious anachrony, but hardly shocking. No, the baffling thing was to learn that it was modern and that only two other people had commented on what to me was a glaringly obvious erasure of the female pups. And not a one had commented on the supposed 'rivalry' between the two pups. I'm not kidding: It gets mentioned in *every single scene* and the only time I recall that it could be contrived as competition is at their mother's teat. It's not that it's old-fashioned, and I'm offended. It's so bizarre that it's amusing! And the fact that others have not noticed only heightens the original sense of incredulity. I understand focusing on one or two puppies, in post. It's things like presenting the other pups as female and then not naming them or ever substantially mentioning them again. This could have been fixed wth less than seven seconds of run time. Someone in the comments suggested that the girl pups are more likely be sold and the boy pups trained on the farm, but you could reference that with less than three seconds - not even a full sentence. I expect that there *must* have been footage we *didn't* see, where the two pups *were* competing. But none of that makes the final cut. And the fact that no one stepped back to listen to the narrative they ended up with - as a writer and editor, I find it astonishing!

@@westaussie965 The intent of working (herding/cattle in this context) dogs was to move grazing animals from one area to another, and to keep them protected from predatory animals or things that may threaten the livestock. It's to keep them all in check, hope this helps :) Please look into the history of working dogs, it dates back to when we first domesticated dogs, which is a long time ago! (take a gander through the working dogs page of wikipedia; it has robust citations you can peruse) Instead of spouting whatever comes to you brain first when trying to have a "gotcha" moment, think about what you are going to say (if it requires something of fact, cite your sources) Keeping populations in check is also important, people need to eat to survive. Stopping people from eating meat won't solve our climate crisis. you can't stop people from eating meat without killing the animals that are overpopulating and destroying environments at the same time; we can't keep them alive without risking our own lives (and other animals lives) as well. Domesticating livestock is how we got to this point, we can't go back now or magically solve all our problems by just going vegan. Animals can be eaten for meat, just not on the mass-scale that they are slaughtered at by big companies in this day and age. Have a good day.

We had a border collie that was trained to work at the nursing home - best dog ever. We only had problems when little kids groups would come to visit. We'd get them all lined up, turn around for ONE second, and Lucy would have them grouped in the corner and protected. It was hysterical. Lucy would even stand still if one of the residents accidentally backed their wheelchair over her foot. She had her own name tag, and worked 40 hours a week, so she could go home and relax. She was absolutely amazing - knew over 70 commands and hand signals.

I clicked on this video to see adorable border collie pups and was rewarded with exactly that! I wasn't expecting to be served a side of misogyny as well. Come on Animal Planet you released this in 2019 and couldn't take a moment or two to celebrate the four ladies of the litter? Oh my, they are girls, I guess they aren't capable of learning herding skills so let's put ALL the focus on the two boys. Phew they are all so damn cute but messaging is important too.

The mascot of where I work is a border collie named Nick. He's 9, super fluffy, and is a retired sheep dog. Haven't heard him bark though. The fact that he's around makes it easier to be away from my dog. When I go home next month, my dog is going to be very happy to see me

The Border collie comes from the Borders of Scotland, they are very energetic and can run all day, if you are not a farmer they are ONLY suitable if you like LOTS of walks and perhaps running as well, after they have reached the correct age for exercise , viewers might be interested t9 know that they are the most intelligent dog by a long long way. All the best from the U.K.

We had a border collie mix. We live in the suburbs. If we had a party, she wouldn’t be happy until she herded every guest into a little group in one room. They didn’t even realize what she was doing. It was really funny to watch her poke and prod all these adults until she got them right where she wanted them.

I don't know why, but it seems every other border collie is named Fly. There's a Fly here. In "Snow Dogs," there's a border collie named Nana, BUT the dog who plays this character is actually named Fly. I guess it's just a common name for the breed.

I was raised by 2 Border Collies in succession. To avoid the conflict of mom and I arguing about coming in for a nap, I was dragged into the dog house and made to nap by our first BC. If I got out of the yard, I was herded back to the gate and there was the bark, telling mom to let us back in. The dog got a milk bone, I got a swat on the butt. If you want to be emotionally manipulated by a dog, get a Border Collie, its the best experience you can have so long as you have the time and space to exercise them. My mom grew up on a farm in central Texas, where they had 3 Borders for 3000 head of sheep and they moved them from field to field every day. That was a sight to see.

As someone who has been around many different kinds of animals all of my life, it never ceases to amaze me how accepting dogs are. They really do want to be friends with everyone. They don’t care what species, what gender, or what color an animals is, nor (9 times out of 10) what handicaps an animal may have. There are genetic reasons for this, of course (friendliness has been bred into dogs over thousands of years), but it’s still something we humans can learn from.

@SneakyCheeseThief
3 жыл бұрын
@@dhyeyapatel8688 Border Collies can learn up to 750-1000 different words, so you can be very specific about commands. If you don’t believe me, there is (or was, he recently died) a Border Collie named Chaser who lived with a psychology professor in South Carolina, USA who learned around that many different words. You can find his videos on KZitem, and various academic articles written about him by the professor.
