O love to see the wild orccas in the San Juan Islands north of Seattle. They swim so many miles a day when free.

So cute! the basic groups of orcas are the ones that eat fish and the other to are big prey and scavenging but mostly big and small prey. they are classified dolphins.

The name of this male killer whale is Trua. He's seven years old and it's not by it's mother's side (this would never happen in the wild). Hate captivity, but I love this whale with all my heart

Aline Giovanella His mother(Takara) was in there. She is the orca that swam by. Yes,she did get moved away from him,for a reason. You can't just jump to assumptions and say "Seaworld is an evil company because they separate mothers and babies". Yes they have separated some mothers and their calves. But for reasons. And that's why you can't just jump to conclusions without knowing why they did it. They didn't just separate them for the heck of it. They only separated them if the mothers were rejecting the calf. Or if there was aggression between them or any of the orcas constantly to where something had to be done . So it was only what was best for them. Takara was separated from Trua due to her getting pregnant by Tilikum, and when she was pregnant Trua constantly bumped her belly roughly to where it could harm the baby. Something all orcas do usually when they are juveniles, from curiosity, nursing or anything. In the wild sometimes Mother orcas didn't always accept their calf, even tho it's rare it happens. Or the calf could die or get lost. Really anything and it has happened. Trua to this day is thriving at Seaworld Orlando with his Grandma,Aunts,Uncle,Niece,And so on. And he has a very strong bond with Kayla, his trainers, and the rest of his pod/family.

@BeccyComments Do not worry. Once an Orca is held captive as a calf, it will adapt to this place and love it =D

@BeccyComments There are 7 more tanks! 7 million gallons in total! And last month SeaWorld raised $100000000 for charity. Their own charity, the SWBG conseravtion fund rescues stranded and injured animals every day.

@tone430 Another assumption. The water is continually chilled and filtered salt water. And where do you expect their urine goes in the ocean?

@CudanCoch They must be in captivity for people to give a damn about them in the wild. Without this kind of interaction to spark empathy in humans, any wild creature, no matter how magnificent, is doomed.

@tone430 They are not slaves! They live in 7 million gallons of water, with their families and they aren't forced to perfomr. This would be impossible.

@tone430 All of this money goes to charity. A certain percentage of the ticket price does, and they have a special voucher (to print off their site) which gives all proceeds to a variety of charities. I will post the link and others to your KZitem wall as I can't do it here. And please don't start to insult me. I'm not doing it to you, and just because I believe different things to you it doesn't mean I will go to hell.

Makes me kind of sad to see killer whales in captivity like this. Sure, it gives us an opportunity to see them up close - but I'd sooner never see one in the flesh for the rest of my life and yet know all of them are thriving in the wild instead of being cooped up in these tanks like this.

CudanCoch Actually, orcas in the wild aren't thriving. They have many infections, are starving and so on. It's also proven that cetaceans in human care are happier and healthier.
