This is the stupidest thing a person can do. The child needs to learn to stay away from the dogs while they are eating. If she is taught she can go up to an eating dog, she will think it’s okay to do that to ALL dogs and will get her face bit off.

@@rottiehaven1217 Cleary you know nothing about dogs or training them. The dogs consider Collin, Sam, and Cozy as part of their pack. They all live together and so Collin trains them and Cozy, how to interact in any given situation. The dogs aren't violent by nature, they just need to be taught that Cozy means them no harm and that they don't have to protect themselves/their toys/their food from her, just as they don't have to protect themselves from Collin or Sam. He's trying to prepare for any possible problem because anything can happen. He could be with the dogs and something could distract him and if he failed to shut the gate and Cozy wanders in with them, he needs to know that the dogs know her, love her a n d consider her part of their pack. They already do yo a certain extent: Junior adores her, thinks she's his child and often makes it a point to stand over her and "protect" her from the other dogs. He wants to make sure she is "safe", even though the rest of the pack have accepted her too, and mean no harm. Collin tries to prepare for any situation because he knows Cozy has to learn how to interact with them as well since she's still a baby as opposed to a 4 yeard child who can communicate and talk and understand. Try following this channel and watching the videos of Collin when he has the dogs around his daughter. Watch what he does and listen as he explains why he does it.

I don't have a rottweiler, but with how my lab reacts when I pet him or get close to his bowl whilst he's eating, there's no way I'd be letting a stranger or a child near him at meal times. He doesn't snap, bark or growl, but he does eat even faster and it can't be anything that I've done because my previous dog would eat her meals at a relatively normal pace and I could pet her without her trying to wolf everything down. A rottweiler is a breed that I'm considering, but they require a really firm hand, a lot of socialisation and plenty of 1 on 1 training.

I have two Rottweilers and I wouldn't do this. They're are animals and as much as you may think you know how they will react they are animals. Sometimes it works out ok but other times it doesn't. I personally wouldn't take this risk.

This is wonderful.. I have never had 4 at a time but I have had 2. I also always pet my Rottie when he starts eating. You are so careful with Cozy but teaching her and the dogs at the same time. My sister married a jerk with a Rottie and he never took the time for any of this. As Hilda got older she started snapping at anyone who got within 10 feet of her when she ate. I raised my 2 grown kids with Rottweilers and Dobermans from the moment they were born. They learned affection and respect as they are around dogs. I know as Cozy gets Oder you will be teaching her how to approach or wait to be asked to approach new dogs. Please ignore Cross Creek Rotts who sounds as if he is training guard dogs and not family pets. You have always said you are speaking as an owner with a great deal of experience but are not a professional trainer. I have had 5 Rottweilers and a Doberman during my lifetime. Most of them are rescues.

@@Simply_Sadie sounds like an oddly specific, and unlikely scenario. Any dog trainer (or seasoned parent for that matter) would know, the sooner you set boundaries and expectations for a being, the easier it is for that being to live within them and excel. There’s more nuance that goes into that, but I doubt you’ll look inward to consider what you might not know, so I’m not going to explain it. TLDR- Anyone advocating for separation and control over integration and observation, clearly has no understanding of pack mentality or more likely, no grasp at all on dog training as a whole. Or you’re a beta 😂

Foolish to the greatest degree. I know that you are certain in your mind that you would be able to detect if the dogs showed signs that they were about to react aggressively. But, and it's a HUGE but, if they turned aggressive, it could happen in a nanosecond and it would be too late. The point is that you have no right to prove your point at the expense of the child. Shall I tell you what you would say if the worse happened? You would say, "Oh! My God!, I know my dogs and I never thought that would happen. They have never behaved like that before." But all that expression of horror and disbelief would mean nothing to that child. Try your experiments on yourself in future, or on someone who is old enough to make such decisions for themselves.

I’d be foolish to say my dogs will never bite :) They’re bred to kill to protect their families. My job, is to teach my daughter, how to safely live with them, and be a part of the pack. Which is exactly what my family is. 👍🏻

The only problem I see is when you let them in they are excited and go right for the bowls. I use to have my dogs come in calmly and sit and wait till I put the food down, then I would still make them wait with the food in front of them for about 20 to 30 seconds and then let them eat.

Absolutely no! Never ever let a child get near a dog while eating. This is a disaster in the making. One day the dog will react. No one should mess with a dog while eating. I love what you do but can’t agree on this. I have a pack of rottis and would never do this.

@@TheRottyRanch As someone who was nearly mauled to death as a child by a Rotti, this video makes me absolutely sick. "Setting your future up for success" does not look like putting your infant near dangerous predatory dogs while they are eating. Your child WILL be attacked by one of your dogs one day, even awesome well-trained Rottweilers can lose it and become aggressive. Please don't take that chance man...
